If you answer and tell them not to call, as a 3d party debt collector they must stop.An alternative is to tell them it's a wrong number - then they must also stop calling.Who knows, it might be that someone stole your iodentity and opened a Citicard account in your name.In any event, it's best to deal with it rather than become upset by it.

Write them a cease and desist letter to stop calling and to only communicate via letter (in writing). It is a law they must stop if you put this request in writing. You can verify this by googling "phone harrassment and how to stop bill collectors"

How maybe you are wrong. My bill for sears is paid up. I was on vacation and came home and found all these calls on my caller I.D They then called while I was home and I answered the phone to find out who it was. When I said hello the first time,I got nothing. Then I said hello again a little louder. This time a guy asked me if I was clarence. I said yes and he hung the phone up. I tried to call the number back and got a recording saying that the number was not in service.now if this was a legitimate collection agency,why are they calling me if I don't owe anything and why are they hanging up on me when they get the party that they are calling.

I missed one time -- slipped through the cracks and since then have been paying $100 a month. They keep putting $39 overage and saying that I am late even through I have been paying over what they say is due each month. Now they keep dailing every few minutes and hanging up. My bill will be paid off and they will still be charging me $39!

We cann fight back, all those companies out there that are charging us 25% + should be boycott. It use to be that this was considered a crime to charge that much interest. If they charged a fair rate and did not get so greedy, so many individuals would not have trouble paying their bills and then just stopping payments all together. Consumers right should include the unfair percentage charge. Since the change in February, I have not seen things get better but worst.

go to the Federal Trade Comission, bureau of consumer complaints, and report them using their online form. this is specifically for debt collectors. they can't just call you all day and hang up and when you answer hang up and keep calling you after you told them there is no "laqueesha" there.
