This number calls all the time and it is ignored. Someone had a weak moment and answered one day. They were looking for someone with the same last name.
OK. We're behind in our Sears payment. My wife called Sears (in an attempt to be proactive...) and explained that we'll catch up. They agreed with our plan. Three days later a man (with a Middle-Eastern accent!) called and demanded payment over the phone. My wife explained that she already called Sears and we have an agreement. He screamed at her demanding a credit card number over the phone. She refused, and said we'll pay soon. He screamed some personal insults. I decided to add my comment to this site before calling Sears to find out the complaints number at Citibank. If they're not cooperative I'll ask our attorney to help us out. I believe the collection agency may not even be in the U.S. but are using an internet phone that connects with a PBX in Kentucky.
This is from Sears collection - in my experience, if you answer and talk to them, they will stop calling repeated. If you owe them money, the National Do Not Call list won't help. They have a right to try to collect their money! If you don't owe them money, explain and get them to remove your number from their computer.
I get them calls too from CitiBank best way to stop these idiots from calling just change your phone number simple as that. Also CitiCard will stop calling because they wont have your phone number any more. Also another thing is move to another address and dont do a change of address LOL. Had them call many times for the past couple of months now like every 3 to 5 days and hang up when you answer the phone what ever turns them on playing with the telephone like a 10 year old but if you change your phone number and un-publish it the issue will come to a stop. " Good Luck "Usally we were getting these calls around the hours of 8 - 9:00am and 3 - 4:30pm.
No message left and when calling back on cell phone, gives a "cannot be completed as dialed" message.
Seriously people. If someone is calling your phone repeatedly they're doing it for a reason. Not everyone is trying to scam you. If you truly want phone calls to stop call the number back and ask who they're trying to reach. If it's you and you don't want to be bothered you can always lie and say that they're calling a cell phone and you just got it a week ago. They'll remove your number at least until skip tracing finds you again. If it's a collector and you write a cease and desist letter stating you no longer wish to receive calls they also have to stop calling. If they do not that is in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. You have to understand that when you're dealing with millions of people the majority of the time it is an automated system calling you. It's not like someone is kicking back having a good old time calling. No one that works in collections wants to talk to you. They'd rather just have you pay your bills and sit back and do nothing all day. Also, most major companies have programs to aid you if you're struggling due to the economy depending on if you have promotional balances or not. (Thank Obama for that one.)
I received 4 calls today. I missed the 1st 3. When I called the number back, a recording said that "this is not a working number, please check the number and try your call again." How can it not be a working number if it shows up on my ID? I know that technology moves faster than I can keep up so I know that there is a way that it is done. The fourth time, I was able to answer before they hung up but nobody said anything. How can we stop these annoying calls?
