I recieved a call today my stupid [***] gave my social I didnt know I have acct with wells but I didnt do anything wrong wat do I do?????
It seems like a very good scam. There's all the usual "please hold for the next available representative" stuff. However, first thing they asked for was my social security number. That should be a big red flag for anyone reading this post. No one asks for social security numbers over the phone anymore. The fact that it comes from Oregon is also a concern. Searching online I found Wells Fargo Wachovia collections based in Masssachusets, not in Oregon. That's another flag.If you do decide to call them back, ask them who they think they're calling at your number. If it's not you, make them take you off their list. If it's you, ask them to verify the last four digits of your social security number. If it's Wells Fargo, they'll have it. Even if they caller gets it right, tell them it's wrong. Scammers may have found some old information on you that should have been destroyed. Tell them that in any regard to mail or email you the notice. They may ask you to confirm your address or email. Do not do that! Wells Fargo would have it. For peace of mind, call Wells Fargo yourself. If there's a problem they'll know it and you can work with them to fix it.Whatever you do, do not give these Oregon callers any of your personal information.
Received call from 503-605-8776 a little past 8am. I answered, heard hold music then a female voice came on the line asking if I was --------. I confirmed I was and asked her what could I do for her. The female voice went on to say she was so and so from Wells Fargo Overdraft and that my acct has been overdrawn in the amount of $212 (and change). At this point, I was in disbelief, no way my account (which I look at online at least 3x a week) was in overdraft and I only have 1 acct. at Wells Fargo. I replied to her that I didn't think so, and if it was, why wasn't I contacted before, or receive any emails from the fraud dept. at wells fargo, to which she replied, is your account set up that way (hello - u should know, if u are really wells fargo). I then proceeded to tell the female voice that I didn't believe she was from Wells Fargo, and she said she was, that my acct. has been overdrawn since July 18th, and rattled off some transactions and $ I have never even heard of. I promptly told her that I felt this call was fraudulent, and she got snarky, replying her WF operator # to which I said, I will be going down to my local branch immediately upon opening to check my acct, and report this call and also contact the police. Then I hung up!Called the WF # on the back of my ATM - find out, nope, not anywhere close to being overdrawn and no problem with my acct. I also went down to the branch, they looked, no issue and I gave them the phone number that called me, claiming to be them. Not sure what kind of crap this lady is trying to pull or if it's a bunch, but it is not legit, period! Don't give out any personal details, ss# or checking info to them. Pure fraud!! Hang up!
Just got a call from some lady named Cindy or something (503-605-8776). She identified herself as a Wells Fargo rep and then hung up without leaving a message when my nephew told her I was sleeping and he wouldn't wake me.
Legit? Oh come on! read the comments posted. Only a few say they are legit, like your post and the majority, state otherwise. Common sense says those few positive posts are nothing but bunk posted to keep the scam going. I am still so incensed about the call i got that i even called the police. These people are trying to Scam others. Elderly, low income and ppl who don't know any better. Its sick to prey upon ppl like that! Its even sicker that they come on these sites trying to scam people into believing they are a valid entity and the other posters are all ppl who dont want to pay what they owe. I hope all the nagative karma this group is generating hits them hard and soon.Do i owe any $ - nope! Not to any creditor. I carry zero balances and pay everything in full. Credit score is 800. Do i write checks each month, nope, do i use my atm to spend at stores, nope. So when i get a call out ofthe blue saying my acct is overdrawn, an acct i looked at just the other day, i know its not legit. When i call wells fargo and they say its not legit, and go into the actual branch, and they say, its a scam. What i do believe is that somewhere this group has access or did to lists of ppl at wells fargo who may have had accts. possibly thru a shady employee. Which is why i am closing my wells fargo acct.To the lady that tried to scam me - i'm thinking my next hobby i spend my $ on will be a website linked to all the search engines and various forums listing scams, fraud alerts along with links to various state and federal, banks, agencies to make it easy for ppl to report these scam attempts! Eventually, you all will get caught. Just matter of time.
Even if this is WF, they are breaking FTC & FCC laws. When someone asks for your soc and or account number DO NOT give them out. WF tells you they will never call asking for such info. WF if it is you start leaving mesg & quit harrassing people. Keep a record of these calls report to your local bank FTC.enough already, & this truly is NOT the.way.for.any bank to conduct busines. Guess WF forgot.we bailed their.a##es out.
No it isn't. If this were a legitimate number the person who called me this morning would have know the names of the three people listed as contacts for our accounts Wells Fargo. They first asked for the owner of an apartment complex we manage and when I told him that the owner is a church board he then asked for an on-site manager who not only hasn't been at the property in over two years, was never associated with the bank accounts. We've had legitimate calls from Wells Fargo and they've always asked for one of the contacts listed on the account.
