I'm in Alaska and the call is coming from Oregon. First time calling me, but reading these posts I will put this number on my reject list so my phone will never ring when it calls again.
This number has called about once a day for the past week. Our policy is to not answer unknown numbers of questionable origin. If it is an important call they will leave a message, but as soon as the answering device picks up the call is disconnected. Annoying to say the least. I too am on the do not call list and as usual, our government knowing what is best for us, has exempted these calls. My next call I will answer with an air horn.
6/12/16 @12:55PM: Just received call from (503) 977-6714. I don't answer calls from phone numbers I don't recognize. Whoever or whatever it was didn't leave message. I blocked the number.
Because of these types of calls, I never answer my phone anymore, unless I know the number on caller ID. Otherwise if its important, they can leave a message and a phone number.
This number spent all weekend calling me,My caller ID says it's from MDC research. I never answer calls I do not know, I let my answering machine take the calls.I am also on the national do not call list But I guess that means nothing anymore. They never leave a message either.I'm so sick and tired of these phone calls.Whats up with the national do not call anyway, They are not doing their job thats forsure.
Caller didn't leave a message on my machine and the caller id said "MDC Research" which probably means telemarketer/scammer since I don't know anyone by that name. So I ran 3 reverse traces using 3 different types of traces and all were blocked for a person or business name and the only information was a general location of Portland, Oregon using a service provider of QWEST Corporation which is favored by scammers. This is definitely a scammer that is either spoofing numbers and/or using a Voip system while phishing for personal information and running some scam ( i.e. Marketing Research, Surveys, Free Vacation Winner etc. ). A legitimate business would never hide their identity and location from the public by blocking a trace. DON'T ANSWER AND DO NOT CALL BACK FOR ANY REASON. Block and report to the proper authorities. Phone companies should be held responsible for these types of calls since they are making money from them by providing the systems and services that these scammers use and possibly farming out numbers too.NOTE: Here is the contact information for the service provider for this phone number and the real MDC contact information.Qwest Corp (Service Provider)421 Ne 83rd AvePortland OR 97220(503) 242-5234MDCMarketing ConsultantAddress: 8959 SW Barbur Blvd # 204, Portland, OR 97219Phone:(503) 245-4479
I'll teach you a little trick that works for me. It's called verbal Judo. When a telemarketer calls, be courteous and patient but remember thesel few words for your tool chest. "Let me see if I understand you..." This gets them to stop talking a listen. Summarize what they want and get their attention, then say, "I need your help." When they offer to help you, ask them to humor you and update your phone number in their database. They will say certainly we can update your phone number/. No be courteous and respectful as you give them the number to update to 999-999-999. Assure them you mean it, but cajole them respectfully to help you with the problem. I've never had them refuse. It's better than removal, because it will just end up there again.
Survey for Cape Cod Heatlhcare calling a "do not call list" number and asking specific information about personal health care history which is a breach of HIPPA confidentiality. Given this I will be calling the Mass AG and a local TV station as well as the police. On Monday I will call the Cape Cod Heatlhcare to see if they even paid for such a survey.
