I received calls from this number 2 times today. I called back and they claimed to be Macys, asking me my name, last 4 digits of my CC and my social security number. I live in Florida HOW DO WE REPORT THIS???
Have gotten 4 calls today from this number but don't answer and they don't leave a message.
Keep getting calls from this number. No messages Ieft on phone. Put number on auto reject.
Our calls started on Dec. 17th at 8:24 am, 2:42 pm, 5:38 pm, 7:25 pm. Then on Dec. 18th at 8:30 am, 12:21 pm, 4:15 pm, 7:31 pm. and today, Dec. 19th at 8:29 am, 11:24 am, 3:13 pm. And I'm sure we'll get one more before the day is through. We are on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and yet, these calls still get through. Thank you caller ID. We do not answer these calls.
Follow up from an earlier post to report that I have been able to resolve this. The number is indeed Macy's debt collection. If you are getting calls from this number, there are a couple of possibilities:a)If you have a card or account with Macy's or have shopped with them in the past, they may be contacting you legitimately. Contact them to find out what is going on, and check the FTC rules regarding debt collection.b)However, if like me, you've never done any business with Macy's (or related companies) in the past, they may be contacting you in error. Possible reasons include:- previous owner of your phone number owes money to Macy's- someone with malicious intent to avoid paying Macy's provided them with a fake phone number (yours!)- clerical error, illegible handwriting on forms, etc.- someone has impersonated you, i.e. identity theft <-- you don't want to ignore this!Call them back and clarify the situation, and request that they stop calling you. This worked for me -- I provided my first name and phone number only. No other personal information was needed. They have not called me since.Details below.-----My experience as follows:I received three calls altogether on three consecutive weekdays:1-513-754-9822 called 12 Dec 2014 at 9:24am. 1-513-573-8028 called 15 Dec 2014 at 10:43am.1-513-573-8028 called 16 Dec 2014 at 10:30am.I did not answer any of them, and no message was left each time.I called 1-513-573-8028 and reached Macy's. The call was taken by a rep named Sheila, who asked for my account number.I politely but firmly clarified that I have no business with Macy's and have never purchased anything from them, and obviously have no account number with them. I requested to know why they were calling me, and who they were looking for.I was asked for my phone number, which I provided. Note, there is no harm in giving your phone number to them because a) they need to look it up in their system in order to figure out why they are calling you, b) they're already calling you anyway, and c) they need to know what number to stop calling (since that is our goal). The rep was able to find the corresponding account that was associated with my phone number. She asked for my name. I initially declined to identify myself -- for obvious privacy reasons -- and instead insisted to know who they were calling for. However, this is apparently not allowed on their script -- I presume they either need to protect their customers' privacy and/or avoid a situation where a debtor can simply deny their phone number. We reached a compromise, I provided my first name only, but not my last name, to protect my identity while giving the rep something to work with. This allowed the rep to confirm that that my name did not match the one on the account that had my phone number on it.I was also asked how long I had owned the phone number (almost a decade).Resolution:- I was told the name of the debtor whose account had my phone number on it. (Worth noting in case of possible identity theft!)- I was promised that the calls would cease within 24 hours.- the rep also affirmed that the call from 1-513-754-9822 was from them. The rep was professional throughout the call. They have not called me since -- it has been almost two weeks.-----Remember:- Whether you are picking up a call from them or calling them back, request that they identify themselves and state their purpose for calling you.- Affirm that you have no business with them and that they have called a wrong number. Unequivocally request that they stop calling you.- Do not disclose any personal information, especially social security number, etc.- Be firm, but polite. Remember, the rep is just trying to do their job.
I've been getting calls all weekend from this number and again early this morning. I refuse to answer and they will not leave a message. I have a Macy's card but my account is current. This is getting to be harassment!
Got a call from this number, asked them to take us off their call list.Person at the other end was aggressive, bordering on abusive. We have a Macy's account, but it is not past-due. They did not want to speak to a man, but asked to speak to my wife, suggesting they are targeting women.
Said they were from Macy's calling about a payment I was late on making on my card. I don't have a payment to make on my card. She was pressuring me to pay the bill and asking for personal information. It's a scam
