I am based in NYC and was trying to find a short-term apartment for someone else. Yes, as people have said they are scams. I got responses from Jane Synovec and Andrew Mcintosh. I googled Synovec and found it was a scam. I then checked the email Long Header - where you see all the information about where the email has come from - the first !P adress - the lowest down in square brackets [ ] is the IP address of the sender - I googled their IPs - they are both based in Lagos, Nigeria. I wonder if the money is being picked up there rather than in the US. Synovec also apparently uses legitimate holiday rental web sites as well as Craigslist - so be very careful. Do not send money via MONEYGRAM or WUNION. Asa guide most holiday rentals will start at $1500 pw in Manhattan - for a place way uptown, JT

Thanks so much. I almost booked with these scammers yesterday. The scams continue on craigslist for nyc rentals today, July 4th, with several names: R. Brooks, Janina Richardson, Jeff, with all similar texts as this: Thank you for your interest in my apartment. The apartment is located on 210 West 80th St.New York, NY 10024 and it's still very much available for the date wanted which July 20th to July 25th is ($65/Night) which is $325 and 50% deposit of $162.5 to hold the apartment for your booking + security deposit of $250 is required. The total to secure the apartment would be $412.5. Note:The security deposit of ($250) is 100% refundable on your departure and I promise you that you will enjoy your stay in my apartment and never regret because the apartment is a personal large bedroom, kitchen, High ceilings, tiled floors, with dishwasher, disposal, compactor, fridge and ice maker. Artist handmade and tiled archways and wall panels, recessed lights and Fully-equipped laundry facility. Arrangement for luggage during your stay and after check out to keep them safe with a private parking space. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.Regards,Jeff

I've just sent a note to craigslist, giving them the link to this website and all of the betrayer's names mentioned so far. Hopefully they are going to stop this person! But still there will be others like this - so don't be too overtrustful! I'm still angry with myself being so naive!

I answered this one out of curiosity as I usually don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. Another annoying robocall. This time claiming to be calling from Medicare. Would give it zero stars if I could.
Because I didn't know who the caller was, I sent it to voicemail. The caller did not leave a message and hung up. I assumed it was another robo call and when I checked this site my assumption was confirmed.
