I just a call with this number and they DID leave a message. It was a solicitor. No company name was given but they gave another number to return the message. Some of the previous postings might have the answer: it's a new way to block Caller ID.

Received 2 calls on my cell from this number. First one, male speaking in foreign language...showed up as "unavailable" on incoming ID. Right away, second call was spooky...no voice just the same distress sounds in the background as reported by kim m - sassy1texan@aol.com

Received call from this number (555) 123-4567. Heavy accent from what I think was India. Promoting/inquiring about some software solutions company. I did not answer just listened to the message.

got a call from this number at 10 pm. Could hear voices in the background, and then the caller hung up.

I got a call from my boyfriend who is supposed to be serving a sentence of "180 days straight time" in a domestic violence rehab center in Lancaster, CA. We talked for 30min., and the call dropped after he was silent and then started very quietly whisperig hello. I didn't notice the strange # on the caller id until I tried to call it back and that familiar operator jingle said "your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try again." He hasn't even been in this "program" for a month, and he called from an "unknown/restricted" number a week after he left without saying goodbye and not telling me anything about where or when he'd be going for 6 months except that it was far away from where we live. He said he would be coming home on the 15th or 16th for a dentist appointment, and I figured he was just was in denial. After 2 weeks, he called me on the eve of Valentine's Day from a (661) area code which is in S. California's mountains (aka Lancaster, CA). He was really happy and said he has been going church and group therapy. He told me to be ready for him because he would be home the next morning to stay for a few days. Even more bazarre... he said he was getting a ride from a family friend who just so happens to be his "case worker" and also lives at the "rehab" center. I have never heard of anyone being allowed to have a "home pass" from a "rehab" leaving in the middle of the night and just come back after 5 days when they were only there 2 weeks! On top of that, until the two arrived at my door on Valentine's Day, I had never seen this "friend" or even heard him mentioned. So you can imagine my suprise when my boyfried tells me this "friend" is like a brother, since his mom took him under her wing when she saw he was all alone at a Refugee camp in Laos. His family was lost during the chaos of the Vietnam War and so he came with them to the US in 1980. My boyfriend's dad was taken by the Communists and was never seen again, and his older brother who is the 1st born son is supposidly in prison somewhere in Thailand to this day.Any thoughts? I think he may be up to something, possibly overseas?

I got a call on February 23, 2008 at 11:00 pm sharp. The number said 555 123-4567 I thought it was a joke, how could any phone company hook up such a number, it felt like a scam so I decided not to answer it. Haven't got one since.

Got a call from 555-123-4567 at 4:30pm today on my cell and didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. I have been receiving marketing phone calls from India from a web design company that wants to offer web design services, maybe this is related? They often leave a message but maybe this is a different company or different operator.
