James in Atlanta--I have a cellphone number listed on VRBO which was called by 590-783-7178 on November 6, 2007 at 9 AM CST. Couldn't understand a thing he was saying--sounded like some Indian call center using dime-store VoIP.phx,az--yes that does exist. Google's Grand Central has that feature as do some other VoIP operations. You can even block entire area codes.
Gotten 5 calls from this number since Oct. 24. Also, since Oct.31, have gotten a dozen calls from people, all in my area code, who see my number on their caller IDs, but calls to them were never made from my phone. Could this be related?
I also have a cell number listed on VRBO, and have gotten 5 calls from that number since Oct.24. Only once did anyone speak- also hard to understand. Looks like you, Chicago_bear, and I all have listings on VRBO. I'm curious, have you also been getting calls from people in you area code who see your number on their caller ID, although you have never called them?
Yes, I also advertise on VRBO and have gotten this call twice, now. I never answered it and they do not leave message
Yep, I have a VRBO rental as well. They called and I missed it and looked the # up on Google and found this forum.
Called one minute ago. Homosassa ,Florida,7:40 est. I checked to see who this caller might be and find all these messages. Glad I couldn't make it to the phone.
Yes, I also have a listing on VRBO. I have received many calls from this number to my cell phone. It rings once, and when I have tried to answer, they have already hung up.

I called Citibank's other number and confirmed this was their Consumer Support number. It is legitimate. Processed the information they needed to verify my account. I originally thought it was fraud but it is real.

We receive calls at our place of business from these people every day and they claim to be with Spectrum. It sounds like a call center in India; noisy background noise and each person who calls has a strong accent.
