I have blocked this number on my Panasonic phone and it works great. Press menu, then # enter 217, then add, enter telephone number.
Saw on the caller ID that it was a funny area code (not in my area). Quickly googled it, landed here. Found out that, of course, it's a scammer. Didn't pick it up. It's kind of sad people waste their time trying to scam people. Such low lives. Pathetic that they can't earn a wage in an honest way like most good people do.
There is a message that says "press 2 if you want to remove your name from the list", but when you do it, it says "invalid". So I press 1 to talk with a representant to ask him to remove my name from his list, than HE HONG UP ON ME!!!!!!!!!
Everyone who got suckered into giving out their credit card number should IMMEDIATELY phone their credit card company to report their card as lost or stolen. These people are definitely not legitimate. They claim to sell card services - protection and lower interest rates. Here is their typical Modus Operandi to extract all the necessary information to bill goods to your credit card. I only played along to find out exactly what they were up to.The person I talked to was a man with a heavy foreign accent who said he was calling from Vancouver. When I said I already had credit card protection from a company in Toronto, he asked me for the expiry date on my credit card. Next he asked me for ONLY the last 12 numbers on my credit card because they didn't match the expiry date. Of course, that still "protects" me according to him, because it would be impossible to guess the first 4 numbers which identify the bank. He also "suggested" that I give my mother's maiden name to confirm.I told him that if he was REALLY calling on behalf of my credit card company he would HAVE that information already, that all banks request that we NOT give out passwords or other crucial information and hung up.I already had their number on call block a few months ago, but in the process of cleaning up my caller ID, I accidentally removed it. So silly of me; it's now blocked on my caller ID, and my phone's voice caller ID is reprogrammed to say "Scammer calling".
I just spoke with this company for the last 12 minutes on the phone--I had quite the time with them.I will summarize the conversation:"Press 1 to hear about your current credit card problem"I then spoke to a man with very poor English who was asking for my credit card number. I asked over 15 times to speak to his supervisor as I'm on the DNC list. He kept saying "my brother--I am the supervisor and I speak the best English around."I then asked why they were still able to call me if my number is on the list. His answer "my brother--us Indians have great powers and are provided by the gods with your number." "Now please give me your credit card information. This conversation went on for the next 5 or 6 minutes about how he has special powers and he is the boss of the whole operation. He then concluded by telling me about the story of Robin Hood and how he is trying to steal from the rich and give to the poor. Man I wish I would have been able to record my conversation--it would have been a good one!I hope they call back tomorrow so I can have a bit more fun. Please do not be silly enough to give out any personal information to anyone--especially when you can barely understand a word out of their mouth!
