I got a call from this number seconds after another number: 916-273-9616. This first number was blocked by Nomorobo. The 608 number kept ringing. I went to report it to Nomorobo and saw that this is Nomorobo's number! So I did a little research and this is what I found on another site apparently from someone at Nomorobo:"Why Am I Getting Calls From 608-371-6666? Because its a robo-call blocking service! Here's why you're getting calls from 608-371-6666: To ensure that we don't block important calls made by humans, when a suspected robocaller calls you, we answer the call and plays a message to them. If the caller successfully enters the random number (technically called a CAPTCHA), we send the call back to you but we change the Caller id to 608-371-6666. If we didn't do this, the call would get caught in an endless loop. Here's an example. Let's say that Shady Charity, Inc is making some calls to ask for donations. Their phone number is 800-555-0100 and, of course, it's blacklisted. When they call, they'll hear the message asking them to type in a random number but, since they have live people making the calls, they're able to get through, heres how: You'll first get a call from 800-555-0100 and then it will stop after one ring (because we answered it). After a slight delay (while the worker types the random number) you'll get another call (it'll be the same Shady Charity worker) but this time, the Caller ID will show as 608-371-6666."This is the first time this has happened that I know of. Hope it doesn't continue.
My "no mo ro bo" blocked 713-364-0015 id'd as "United Recovery" and then about 5-10 secs later, a call from 608-371-6666 (no caller id name) made it through. I didn't answer, it went to voice mail but they didn't leave a message. I will now add that number to my Time Warner block list.
From NomoRobo suuport:Here's why you're getting calls from 608-371-6666 (NOMO):To ensure that we don't block important calls made by humans, when a suspected robocaller calls you, NomoRobo answers the call and play a message to them requesting the to enter a random. If the caller successfully enters the random number (technically called a CAPTCHA), we send the call back to you but we change the Caller id to 608-371-6666 (NOMO). Got a call from 6083716666 re: my computer. Told him my computer is fine do not call back. Called 10 seconds later to call me an F**ing *itch and 11 more times in 6 minutes. Anger issues??? Even tried calling on a blocked "unavailable" about 6 times.
I subscribe to NoMoRobo. Numbers that are blocked only ring once. But numbers that are not blocked ring once and are sent to an automatic answering machine that gives the caller a security number to enter. This prevents the computer dialing machines from getting through, even if their numbers are not already blocked. But if it is a human, and they enter the security code, the call comes back and rings my phone with the caller id of 608-371-6666. Fortunately, I answered the phone because it was my daughter calling from Europe. Like others mention, it could have just as easily been a human solicitation call by someone using a number that has not been blocked by NoMoRobo.
The person called twice. The second time a message was left by Keller Williams realty soliciting the sale of my home.
If you get a call from 608-371-6666, then you probably were able to block the robo call that came in seconds before like we did using Nomorobo, which blocks robo calls. To my delight, it frustrates the hell out of unwanted callers. If you don't know about it, go to www.nomorobo.com and sign up for free. The best way to get even with these worms is to make it impossible for them to reach you.
PLEASE READ! This is the number NoMoRoBo presents to you if someone calls you then punches numbers through to bypass them and get to you as a person. If you get two calls in succession the first caller ID is who called then punched through and you get this number. If this is the only number you received, the caller spoofed to NoMoRoBo number to get you to answer, so don't!
Got a call from 608-371-6666 claiming to be from Maryland Department of Public Health for a survey. I don't take part in surveys and do not give out personal information to unknown parties. I consider it to be a solicitation for information. The person calling said they'd put my number on their do not call list. My number was already on the Federal Do Not Call list and I feel that they should not be calling. A funny thing, I think NoMoRoBo blocked the call at first then I immediately got this call. Odd.
