I have been receiving a flurry of the "you have a virus" scam calls from this number. My profession is investigative in nature and I familiar with this scam. Always a bad phone connection, always an Indian caller. While they are so polite..I am very polite and then tell them that I am going to burn down their home with their family inside - or similar horrible things. I do this because these are criminals who rob elder people and leave them in dire situations. Its also fun to shock them. The Virus calls have stopped and been replaced by "I am from ATT or (ADT) and we have your records".... These are generally Indian women. The connection is terrible, there is noise in the background and it is an obvious scam. They get the same treatment. I make the most horrifying promises of throat cutting, face shooting etc... Again, I do this because these people are robbing the vulnerable and causing suffering. The men generally "Break Character" but the women don't. The horrifying thing about these calls, is that my wife.... a smart and highly educated woman...nearly fell for them. It makes me realize just how effective these scams are and how many people likely fall victim.
Man said that he was calling about my cable service. I asked him who he was trying to reach, he hung up. Idiot, who even has cable any more? Netflix.
I've received calls from these idiots before soooooo...when the phone rang I started earpiercingscreech.mp3 on my pc, cranked up the speakers, held the phone to the speaker and pressed the answer button. They hung up in 4 seconds. If I am bored I just say "Yes" to everything they say... no matter what the question is. I can usually waste 4-5 minutes of their time with that technique. Makes em mad when they figure it out. ;)
I too continually receive calls from this number. The first time I told him I don't own a computer, The very next day I told him I had Linix, next time I'll tell him I have a Mac.
These scammers called 03/01 at 9:00 PM. Immediately disconnected the call because (1) I had just dropped off to sleep and (2) no one calls me at that time of night. If it had been an emergency, I would have gotten a call-back - a legitimate call-back.
Woman with heavy accent wanted to tell me about energy savings programs in New Jersey. She knew my name. I asked her if she knew what a do not call list was and she she understood and hung up. SCAM!
3 calls in two days asking for someone by another name, said they were Allstate but could talk with anyone! Asked 3 times to take me off their list.
