Victor" pretends to be from Microsoft. They see on their scope that the Russians have hacked my computer and instruct me how to allow them in to nose around. I get these calls about every two days. One guy's so blatant, he wants me to hurry to my banking account so see if I'm being fobbed. Lately I tell them my computer is down at the end of my large home and hold on. After about 15 minutes they hang up, but try again later. Sometimes I lose my temper and scream at them. Another guy calls the next day.Sounds like a boiler room, many people talking in the background with the same gig. They reportedly are able to down load a lot of malware into your computer and then become dependant on them. Costs quoted range from free (to get in) to $700 (to fix new problems). I'm going to see if I can block this number somehow with the phone company but I'm afraid they have many phones and many numbers.
Just received a call from this number at 12:45am, eastern standard time. What business calls you after midnight? Seriously? I didn't answer it, sent it straight to voicemail. I haven't received a voicemail notification. But I always Google phone numbers I don't recognize. Glad I did, as I came across this board. Glad I didn't answer it.
I called this number back, used prompt 2. a recorded foreign voice said " thanks for the call, we will never call back you again." LAMO
The called and left a VM. When I played it back, I could hear someone typing but no words were spoken.
This guy had a super heavy accent, called my place of work. Asked for a model number of our main copier/printer. I told him there's about 7 mains ones because we all use our own and he says he just needs one, HUGE RED FLAG. I say why? He has "updated printer manuals" to send me. I said but I have 7 other printers and their not all the same model and he says he just needs the main one. I again explain to him that we have 7 main copiers/printer because we use our own. So I then ask him why do I need an updated printer manual, and I can just look them online in PDF form. He told me that it wouldn't be available, we all know that's a lie. He really thought I'm just some dumb receptionist but jokes on him. I asked him again, why do I need an updated manual if the printer updates itself, he says I need the manual in order to print from my computer.....no I do not. I hung up on him because he really insisted a damn manual will stop my printer from printing.........
They didn't even have the courage to speak.It was 1 in the morning and then they had the check to call a second time!
Woman with foreign accent said "My name is Stacy. This is not a sales call." I hung up the phone.
