Exactly. Call screening is ALWAYS the way to go. Even if you're expecting an important call, if you have a professional sounding voice mail greeting whoever MR or MRS important pants can leave you a voice mail, thus buying you a little time to be better prepared when it's time to call them back and not caught of guard mowing the lawn or something.

I never answer these calls and keep reporting them for calling but they keep calling and calling at all hours for months on end! No one seems to be taking the problem seriously. First, I was told to log all of the calls from the same number and I would get compensated for the harassment. Then, I was told that wasn't enough proof. I guess you have to get a confession and voluntary payment to collect for the harassment.

Except, I use Pinger, so I get their number and I can block them.

Joy, here's how it works: That failed government set up the DNC list to reward you with a "bounty" when you sue these people for calling you when you're on the DNC list. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), you can get $500 to $1,500 per call when they call you, and in most states, you can sue them in small claims court, which makes it easy. All you have to do is show the judge your phone records, and better yet, play the phone recording for the judge that shows that this was a robocall (a prerecorded call), which gives you a double bounty: $1,000 to $3,000 per call. In some states, you can get up to $4,500 per call! But you have to sue them first. It's not rocket science, but some non-lawyers actually make a living doing that. If enough people sue these fools, they'll quit calling people on the DNC list. Not until then, alas.

This call started with a recorded message about my business being eligible for a $250,000 loan. I pressed 1 and told the person that answered that I was Rachel from card services and I could help them get a better interest rate on their credit card, all I needed was their social security number. The guy said have a nice day and hung up, will see if they call back. Since this is my business number I do have to answer calls from number I do not recognize.
