Message said This is the Lake County (CA) Sheriff's Dept. Your telephone service provider does not allow collect calls or you have reached your collect call limit from the sheriff's Dept. We accept visa or PayPal. call our billing dept at 866-230-7761. WE HAVE NEVER MADE OR RECEIVED A COLLECT CALL. THIS IS BOGUS.

They are still going! Just got a call 12:45am from someone trying to connect me regarding a family emergency. Then the call got dropped. Thank EVERYBODY for your posts and making it so easy to know this is a scam. (Unfortunately, it was after I woke up all my other family members making sure they were okay). I can't believe the FBI, FCC or any task force can't get involved to stop these harassing, fraudulent criminals.

BEWARE Of These SCAM Callers !!

I received telephone call from caller ID Global Tel Link 713 981-0098. The automated recording stating that it was a collect call from someone incarcerated AND hospitalized. So I accepted the charges by pressing 1; actually the voice prompt repeated twice, so I acknowledged a total of three times.At that point I was connected to a female, very difficult to hear, so I repeated what I did hear in an brusk manner. This "lady" would not tell me who was injured/incarcerated. She provided me with a seven digit "booking number" I was told I would have to speak with the supervisor "Sherry Adams" at extension x72 and would need to call 213 909-1507. I hung up because at this point she seemed to want me to stay on the phone. But I needed to find out who was in jail. Rather than calling the number I went to the internet to get the number for downtown jail. Meanwhile, my phone rang 4-5 times from that same Caller ID -- how fishy is that! When I did get a chance to speak with a deputy, I learned this is a scam. Just want you to know that they try to get you to forward your telephone using *72. Once they get you to do it, they call your number but it's forwarded to an inmate who gets to receive collect phone calls on your dime.

They called my mother and told them my name and that I was in jail And they wanted for her to accept a collect call. This is a scam report the number don't fall for this morons.

This number has been attempting to connect collect calls with my cellphone. I do not want to accept any calls coming from any Correctional Institution inmate. I sought out information at the Global Tel Link website to learn how to put a stop to these calls but no such Help or Contact references were given there. There needs to be a way to ensure these calls are stopped if unwanted.

I received a call from this no 1 713 981 0098 after 9 o'clock PM. I do not understand it and I think it is some kind of scam. They said I would have to set up an account. FOR WHAT???? I did place a block on this No which works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I do not know anyone in jail or prison.

The service cost me $25 for the phone call and the connection is lousy. You could hardly understand what the person was saying because the connection is routed through 1,000,000 different devices, computers, etc. When you have a loved one in jail and you haven't spoken to them yet, you are coerced to pay them, but it is certainly under duress. But the service is lousy and I will never pay to talk again. You're better off just scheduling a visit. Their website tells you nothing:offenderconnect.comMy advice is don't bother under you are desparately just trying to make any contact. You will be very disappointed.

It isn't a scam. I sure never expected to get a call from an "inmate," but I have and this "inmate" is a wonderful man that didn't pay a couple parking tickets...so - don't be so quick to call this a scam because you never know when you might be needed by a loved one.
