they are calling all the time. It states it is from St. Clair Detention center.

3/26/11 - received phone call from a said "Officer Avila" in North County Corrections Facility and was told a family member was being detained and to call Sgt Diaz at *7213239795214...Why would an officer need to call collect and why wouldn't Sgt Diaz call us directly. It is not confidential information if someone is being detained, they should be able to inform us of the name...SCAM!!! But why???

Got 4 calls from this number tonight. Something about accepting collect calls from someone in prison, never mentioned the name... gee I wonder why? I Promptly hung up each time, although my fed up niece did say she would be reporting their fraudulent a--es to the police before hanging up on the second to last call. Pure Scam!

this is from the GTL site, they are trying to tell you that someone wants to talk to you from jail. They will not allow collect calls to cell phones, so you have to prepay with a credit card/debit to get account activated and then you can accept the collect calls.

I got a weird phone call today. It was a collect call from "Global Tel Link" (GTL) 713-981-0098 gave you options to listen about charges which were around $2.50 and $0.15 each additional minutes and sounded pretty legit. The recording is the same as the true Global Tel Link recording. The call claimed to be a rep. for the police department and asked me to call the police department from a land line only no cell phones. The number they said to call is *721323-218-3147 and ask for a Lieutenant Willis and a reference number for the inmate information. They themselves will not tell me the inmate information just refer me to call this number. Don't ever do a *72 it's call forwarding where they can rack your bill up. I didn't learn this till later. Thankfully this is blocked on my land line. So that save us a headache. But about an hour after this call they called me again stating I this Lieutenant Willis never got my call and since it did not work for me the first time he'd be more than happy to forward the call himself to Lieutenant Willis. I asked if this was GTL Collect call and he said yes before the transfer. As soon as he transfer the call the call ended. I lucked out but I was really worried thinking it was a loved one for real. I was even trying to connect them and there phone kept going to voice mail still is so I am worried about them but I know I'll hear something as one point or another. Good luck to all who fell victim to this scam. As soon as you get this call, call you service provider and make sure that the call forwarding is stopped and explain what happened and they will help you out. Mine did. They have a lot of these coming from TX and there are so many codes be careful it does take them a long time to figure it out though. Good luck all over you.

Have gotten at least four calls from this number this week. States they are from Twin Towers located downtown Los Angeles. Have no clue as to who would be calling me from jail, or if this is a valid number, so I just hung up. For additional information the service stated to call 866-230-7761.
