Jules - Obviously you didn’t read any of the other posts. 1-800-238-2727 is the number for ADT Security Services. You have been called because they have your phone number and there is some type of alarm event with an account that your phone number is associated with. Why do they have your phone number? You either:a) are an ADT customer and have alarm services with them, and you gave them your telephone number to call if an alarm event occurs.b) know someone who has a security system with ADT, who, either with or without your permission, told ADT to list your name and telephone number as an emergency contact associated with their account to be notified in regards to alarm events with that persons system.c) work for or are associated with a company, business, government facility, or organization that has a security system with ADT, and whomever at that company setup the account, either with or without your permission, told ADT to list your name and telephone number as an emergency contact associated with that account to be notified in regards to alarm events at the location.d) were mistakenly listed by an ADT customer who obviously doesn't know the correct phone numbers of people they want called if they cannot be reached due to an alarm event at their home or business.Although ADT has many inbound toll free numbers to reach them, all of their outbound calls (with a few exceptions) are listed with the caller ID 1-800-238-2727 (1-800-ADT-ASAP).It’s really not that difficult folks. If it’s a mistake - tell them so. If you get a voice mail message and can’t understand it, call them back. If you get awoken at 3:00 am and you can’t understand them - maybe it’s because you were suddenly awoken at 3:00 in the morning. I certainly am not 100% with it when I’m suddenly awoken at 3:00am. Maybe ask ADT whose account you are listed on and thank your buddy who has an ADT alarm system later for giving you the heads up that you may get a call. And if you are supposed to be there on the contact list – put the number in your cell phone so it will appear as “ADT” when they call and not a random 800 number. Otherwise, while you are scouring the internet trying to do a search on this “strange” 800 number calling you, your cousins house is burning down and ADT is trying to reach you because the fire department is on the scene and requesting somebody respond.Bottom line - If you or your phone number was seemingly given in error to ADT by one of their customers to put down as a contact for their alarm system in the event of an alarm event, call ADT and tell them so. Give them your telephone number and they will be able to pull up the account immediately that your number is associated with, and - guess what - at your request - delete you from that list. Life goes on.
Tell your sister to answer when somebody calls - it makes it a whole lot easier to ask someone to clarify or repeat themselves if you are confused. If you live in North America, you are getting calls from one of ADT's eight monitoring centers located inAurora, COJacksonville, FLKansas City, MOIrving, TXRochester, NYCalgary, CanadaMontreal, CanadaKnoxville, TNSo not quite sure what ocean your talking about. Maybe the New York accent was throwing you a little bit? But yeah, thank god it wasn't a scam. We appreciate you clearing that up for all of us. ha
No one died. This is the monitoring center trying to reach an emergency contact (as given by the business/homeowner) of someone to notify them of an alarm event at their business/home. They make these calls after contacting the authorities unless the business/homeowner requests otherwise. Obviously the business/homeowner gave the wrong contact info. Just let them know this and they will remove you.
Absolute BS jonny. 1-800-238-2727 is ADT corporate. They don't run credit checks. Your friend must have gotten a system from an ADT "sub-dealer" who do run credit checks. Don't know how that process works but do know for sure that if your phone says 1-800-238-2727 it has nothing to do with your friends credit or you being a reference. Maybe his alarm is going off and he listed you as an emergency contact, and ADT is trying to let you know that the police are en route to your buddy's place? What a concept.JONNY = FAIL
1-800-238-2727 is ADT. People don't dial the number the computer does. If they have your number it is because someone gave them that number to be called. People change numbers and don't update it with ADT. This is why you get called by mistake.
thanks for the information, they just called me on my cell and I have had this number almost 2 yrs and still get calls for the lady who had it before me.
Sounds like you are on the contact list for an alarm system that has malfunctioned possibly at work. My husband gets them all the time when the alarm system malfunctions or the person going in or out does not set the alarm properly. You may want to check this out.
ADT now is able to use caller ID (if use the phone they dialed) to identify the account associated with your number. That way you can find out if the call concerns a business or residence that intentionally listed you or was a typo. (You would know if it were a business, but a friend or relative -- maybe not.)Since they have the information linked to accounts, it should be easy for them to remove your number if it is an error. They call for "supervisory alarms", which simply means that there is some sort of electrical fault with the alarm system. The customer can decide whether to receive "supervisory alarm" notifications at limited hours, e.g. not between 23:00 and 06:00.
