They called me because my house caught on fire. I read these posts and thought it was nothing. It wasn't.
Ditto. Just received a call from them on my cell phone. They asked for a person who is definitely not me regarding an alarm. Based on other posters, someone must have written or transcribed the wrong phone number.
I would never give out my name and my password to someone that called my home. Hopefully it was for real, but i am the emergency contact for my office alarm, have been for 11 years, and they have NEVER called to check this system like that. Sounds fishy to me. I would tell them I am going to call my local ADT office and ask them to run a test if necessary. Never give out passwords or secure information to someone that calls. They can now walk into your home and disarm your system and wipe you out or worse.
This is the # that 4-1-1 gives out for ADT.And yes, I agree with other posters here that ADT calls the #s that customers give them to call. No one died.:)
I use to work with ADT in there call center, and how they work is by auto-dialing. So it wasnt a "type-o" on the reps hand, it however could of been a mistake taken off the contract, or update list (a list givin from the customer to ADT to update phone number(s)) On top of this, if you have got a call from them and you DONT have an alarm system you were put donw as a contact for them. If you wish to be removed from the list, call them back (1-800-ADT-ASAP/238-2727) and request to be moved. ANY call center is required to delete a number when requested by someone. However remember a family member or friend placed you down most likely, so they are putting you as a "contact".
I had a similar call from a man that I could hardly understand. It sounded like he said he was from AT&T Security and was calling to let me know there was a call coming from Ontario. He asked for my personal information and I told him I couldn't give it to him. Anyway, after the call, I checked the number and realized it was ADT. They apparently were not receiving a signal from our system. ADT really needs to be careful and hire people who can speak English fluently because it was almost impossible to understand this guy and instead of giving us a feeling of safety, it was the opposite.
Got a voicemail message to say they had "received a burglar alarm" and were checking to see if I was all right; clearly meant for someone else. ADT included a street address, which I won't add here. Kind of upsetting: the message said they would "attempt to reach the authorities." I've had this number for several years; bizarre. Freaked me out. I hope the person was OK.
YES -- it is ADT's auto-dialer. I am an ADT customer and the system is calling me to inform me that the BATTERY, which serves to back-up in the event of a power failure, is low. Sadly, this is due to the fact that the system is on a ground fault interrupt circuit which is tripping due to the Christmas lights and rain! Argh!!!
Nice to know the security company ADT really has their [***] together calling my cell for no reason.
