How frequently do we have to tell you that you have the wrong person ?
Capital One credit card activation call.
My business get hundreds of wrong number phone calls. The people are trying to reach 1-800-678-7820 to activate a credit card. but they call 1-800-878-7820 instead, constantly. What can be done?
Just now going thru my call list and found that this # called in early 2013 - no message left, tho. Was just learning of all the bank card "activation" phishing scams, and looks like 2 have tried me in the past few months.
Pretend to be Capital One Journey credit card asking to Fax them copies of my:1. Driver License2. SSS Card3. Electrical Bill4. ID Cardis this a real Capital One
I called 1-800-878-7820 by mistake. I ment to call 1-800-678-7820 to activate my credit card. I got a recording that stated because I called today I was entitled to a free $100 rebate from walmart for a small processing fee of $1.95 which would be charged to my credit card. Then I was transferred to a real person who wanted my birth date, credit card info, address, etc. They never said they were Capital One but never said they were not either. When I figured out it was a scam, I hung up.
I was one of the people who called your number by mistake when I tried to activate my card. I was told that in appreciate for calling today, I was being offered a free $100 rebate card from Wal-mart for just a small processing fee of under $2.00. The entire time I thought it was my credit card company making me the offer. I was asked my birthday, billing address, credit card info, etc. I because suspecious when the girl failed to answer some of my questions about the rebate and laughed at me for asking and put me on hold. I knew then it was a scam and hung up the phone. If you are a business why don't you identify yourself by using the name of your business when you answer the phone especially when you know you are getting calls from people who want to activate their credit cards instead of asking them all their personal info?
1-800-678-7820 is the automated line for Capital One credit card activation but 1-800-878-7820 is a scam number that feeds off of misdialers who are tring to activate their credit card. When a Cap 1 customer calls them by mistake, they take advantage of it and try to get all your personal info by offering free giveaways for just a small processing, that of course they need to charge to your new credit card. It took me a few minutes to figure out that they were not Cap 1. Purhapes that is the number that called you. The number 8 can look alot like 6 without glasses on.
Accidentally called 878 instead of 678 to activate cap one card. Offered free cruise to Bahamas. Wanted cc info to pay port fees. Scam!!!! Cap one needs to change their number or get these guys!
