I work at te American Red Cross call center. The solution is simple: ask to be a quarterly donor and you will only get called 4 times a year.
The Red Cross just called me to let me know that my blood donation appointment that I had was cancelled. I asked Red Cross to never call me about two years ago. I have given blood nine or ten times since then without Red Cross ever calling me, just emailing me reminders. Notifying me of this cancellation, however, I would consider an exception to my "no call" rule.
