This number is valid and comes from eBay. I got a call from them regarding a claim I filed on eBay.801-545-1800
This most likely is an Ebay ,as they do calls like this to help all types of sellers. They do have a call center in Utah.
Do you people know how most call centers work? If not, let me enlighten you: call centers contract themselves out to other companies. In most cases multiple companies. For example, I worked at a call center in Utah that dealt with Apple rebates (which Apple no longer does), Navteq navigation system support and a local sewing/fabric company (sorry I don't remember the name because we got like no calls). We answered inbound calls for all of these companies. In fact it gets even more deep. For Navteq alone we answered calls for every car company that uses Navteq GPS systems. This included things like Ford, Honda, Nissan, etc. We would introduce ourselves as reps for each of these companies but the reality is that we were just freelance call agents working for multiple people. The point is, the number here is not necessarily coming FROM eBay. But eBay hires this call center to do outbound calls on behalf of eBay. That's why if you call this number, the rep you answer may not be part of their "ebay" team and may not know what the hell you're talking about. Bottom line is that this is not a scam.
I also think it is not a scam because when I called back a recording just said that it is ebay, that they occasionally make calls notifying customers of promotions etc. and that it is not necessary to return the call (I did not get a voicemail message). The recording also explained how one can log into ebay.com and set up their account so as to not receive calls from eBay customer service in the future...Based on my experience as well as the responses of many here I do not think it is a scam.
I have been selling on eBay since 1999 and this IS eBay calling from Utah. They call sellers all the time asking if you need any help, have questions and such. This is not a fraud or collectors.. just eBay, doing their job.. lol
I just received a call from this number and it WAS eBay Seller Support informing me of a resolution to the shipping issue I called about this morning. Absolutely legit.
It is Ebay. It is not a scam. My ID said "Draper, VT." The person I called at Ebay was returning my call requiring an error on their login. No problem.
Received a telemarketing call from eBay which I most certainly did not appreciate. They had my full account name/profile and transaction history, so I surmise that eBay supplied my information to them despite the fact that I had never given any permission for eBay to share my information with any other party for direct marketing. To further the aggravation eBay customer support would not remove my phone number from my profile, just referring me around from dept. to dept. I may just need to cancel my eBay account altogether, I guess.
