I received a call from this number today on my metro pcs cell phone @12:19, Thursday, May 19th. I didn't answer it. It said missed call 802-949-8989 no name. I usually don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. I live in Philly.
Responded to an ad on craigslist for a job listing and recieved this call today. It was a pre-recorded call in Spanish. It had nothing to do with the ad I responded to. I don't know what this call was about, it did say if you want to speak to someone press 1 now, so I did. The phone rang several times and then disconnected.
I just got this call. I did not answer it though. What baffled me is the fact that this is a new phone number for me. My caller ID showed it was from Vermont so I did "reverse phone look up" Guys if they are telling you to press "1" do not press anything but the disconnect button. They can track information and so forth and you want to protect yourself.
I've been getting a LOT of calls (unanswered) from virgin mobile 866-740-4299. My prepaid minutes $$ is due in 1 week. Today they even sent me a text message reminder. Maybe this number is a smoke screen to get me to answer & waste 20 cents.
Originally from Vt. so answered. Somebody speaking spanish and I don't know many spanish speakers in Vt. Call back immediately and number was out of service. Somebody masking their real number and running some scam. Who can develop a some electric pulse to destroy these people's phone and phone service??
Automated message in Spanish to a phone number that few people would know and that is on the do not call registry. Callback says that the originating number is non-working. This call came at at a time when I had to stop in the middle of a job that will take time to start back up. Wouldn't be surprised if the trolls on these reporting sites are part of this -- track these guys down and hang them by their nuts and the calls might stop.
