They have called me twice both times saying they needed to talk to me about debt collection. I called back and a female answered the phone and was agrumentative and asked me didn't I have a sex life instead of calling her. She said my number would be removed from their calling system.
I had this number on my caller ID when I got home. They called while I was at work and did not leave a message on my voicemail. I have no credit cards nor lapsed debts. My brother, however, does. I may call them tomorrow and see what is going on.
They collect on all varieties of accounts not just credit cards. Medical, internet loans, home alarm etc. If they are calling and you know you do not owe anything then verify and find out what they are calling for it could possibly be a wrong number.
these jerks have been calling for weeks but i didnt answer the first time (cause i didnt recognize the #) but i thought maybe it was some long-lost friend or something... however, long-lost 'anyones' would probably leave a msg... theyve called every day since and not once have i received a message. maybe i'll forward their # right back to them.... :)
Definitely not a scam, and the ones who tend to think that are the ones that owe the debt. If you don't owe anyone then give your proof of payment, receipt, or an e.o.b proving that you do not owe. 90% of people find that they do owe
every time they call me and ask for some kareem, when i say i am not kareem.they hang up and call after few days and ask for the same person
Got a missed call and message from a Houston location that said I needed to call them back at 832-476-1739 regarding a debt that was being collected. I have none. I don't know how they got my cell phone number.
Bull schiesse. It is up to YOU, the debt collector to validate the debt, in writing, according to the FDCPA. It is not up to the alleged debtor to provide any proof or any other information. Don't like it? Boo hoo for you. That's the law.
A person named Traci Adams called me today. She left a message to contact her by 8:30 tonight, with a case number. I wasted my own dime trying to get this resolved. They said that the case involved someone who I have never heard and am in no way associated with. The company has yet to give me an explaination on why they are harrassing me.
the second call received today from Avante collection agency. This is a computer calling - not a person. When I wait on the line to speak to someone-I wait for an extended period of time and then have left message (twice) for Kathy Brown at 832-476-1740. I informed Ms. Brown that there is no one here at this message who is a deadbeat and to quit calling this number (they have reached my phone in error). I don't want to keep being bothered by this company - I am reporting this to attorney general of Texas.
