All you have to do is answer and when they ask for a name you say "who?"....act as though you don't know who they are calling for. It helps when a person of the opposite gender answers. They have been harrassing my husband for years. I finally picked up the home phone, said "Who?" and she asked if I knew him, I said "No" and voila! No more calls! He did the same thing with his cell phone.
These scavengers call regularly about a $500 debt that I incurred in 1986. It came off of my my credit report c.1993. They are toothless bottom feeders trying to con people into settling debts that no longer matter. Do not agree to any of their proposals; agree to pay them nothing.
You do NOT need extra software or apps on an android phone to block these harrassing calls. Just add them as a contact, and check the box that says Send to Voicemail.Done and done as they will never leave a voicemail.Phone doesn't even ring. Its great.They are trying to get me on a debt over 8 years old. They even had the gall to tell me I made a payment 5 years ago. Uhhh, no.... Nice try though!Blocked.
Same here...they have so many numbers that they FILLED UP my quota of blocked numbers on my phone service. They're REALLY nasty when you tell them that you're listed on the "Do Not Call" list. And then they just change the number they call from and begin again - 10 calls a day beginning at 8 AM!!
These people are ruining my life, and I don't owe anyone any past debt. They've been calling me for about 2 years saying I had a Citibank card debt.Now what's worse, is even though they haven't reported it to any credit bureau's they have recently run a "Hard Credit Request" from Experian which has lowered my score. (Not alot mind you, but I keep an eye on it all the time).I filed a dispute and Experian said they are a legitimate credit agency, and claim to have a legitimate debt for me(how I don't know, when they can't even give me any account number)..and said they can't do anything. That it will fall off in 2 years. By then, maybe they will run one every few months now, thus eventually destroying my credit score. This is so stressfull.........

We have heard that portfolio can collect on a debt in the state of Ohio even if the debt is 20 years old as stated by the Ohio Attorney General offices.Because, there is NO Statue of Limitations on a debt. But, you have to write Portfolio within 30 days of receiving a letter from them and asking in writing for them to show All documentations of this debt, debt collections agency and all dates. Send certified mail, Because if they don’t send the person proof / Validation of that debt showing all dates etc and what the debt was for. Therefore, If Portfolio does not respond back then the debt is NOT Valid. As stated by the Ohio Attorney General office. Once it is on your credit report it will stay their for 7 years. Everyone becarefull and respond back with a certified letter asking for PROOF/Validation God Speed Concerned in OHIO

Said they were from Bank of America calling me about a fraud alert on my account. When I told them I do not have an account with B o A - they hung up on me. Ironic!
They said it's a business call from northern light. Not real and clearly spam. Northern light must have its phone numbers data leaked.
Called today and left no message. No caller ID, so I did not pick up the call.
