When you press some # "to be removed" you're really only confiming that dialing your number leads to a live person. These people are scammers! They don't keep even a list of numbers not to call.
Don't know anyone in the Dominican Republic and won't answer any call that has Unidentified Caller. How can we stop these calls?
I have had a Digitone device for the last 10 years. I recently bought the newest one that Jake is talking about for 99.00 and it allows me to block all long distance calls including 800 nos., as well as those obviously faking their caller ids, etc. It is WONDERFULLY quiet around the hose except for those calls that come in from people I want to talk to. You can pick exactly what area codes you want to allow. Also, I can block irritating local calls as well. Tons of flexibility. And no, I do not sell or work for Digitone either.
They have called repeatedly. I have Caller ID and never answer a number I don't know. But scammers are persistent. Late at night, I turn off the ringer. I was receiving five or six calls a day from "El Centro," another scam operation, but now it's down to about once a month.
At 9:57 a.m.EST, this number rang my number as a hang up call. I don`t know what inspired me to enter it as a Google search, but I did and found all of THIS! What on earth s happening with 849 963 4853?!
We never answer any calls from numbers we don't recognize. This one comes up as "name unavailable". Rang three times then stopped. The DNC list is a joke. Good try but doesn't work and the government, if they can find these type of people just move to other numbers. We can't wind. Just don't answer numbers you don't recognize.
Showed up on "missed calls". First time caller ID has shown this ID. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, but I think I should upgrade to some service that lets me block the calls.
RTS1 --- I sort of like your old approach --- keeping then on the line while you put the phone down would keep that solicitor from calling x other people. But that requires me to answer the phone and play the game. But, with your new approach of answering / hagning up, if it is a robocaller that just electronically dials numbers to get someone to answer, then "they" know you are home, and they'll keep trying.I just don't answer the phone, but, that's not the total solution either, 'cuz they will keep calling (as I've seen from my caller ID).They're getting pretty clever --- some caller ID info shows the phone # as " 1 " (that's it) ; others have shown the caller to be " . " (that's it -- just a period).BOTTOM LINE -- I don't answer ANY call unless the caller ID is correctly identified as someone I know (or if I recognize the #).
