I have received over 30 of these types of calls in the last month alone. I am on the Do Not Call list, both state & federal. Most of the calls cannot be identified, they are fititious numbers that cannot be traced. According to the state DA the Do Not Call list is worthless, it cannot be enforced as written. I have set up call blocking and annonymous call rejection but neither seems to work. I do not answer calls that are not identified on Caller ID or the numbers are not familiar to me. If the caller wants/needs to reach me they will leave a message on Voice Mail and I will call back. I have started using Selective Call Forwarding to forward these calls (after the fact for future calls) to other such marketing/scam callers. This is a sad commentary on the priorities of our government, billions of dollars are wasted but there is no money to enforce laws already passed to protect citizens. I have filed numerous complaints to both the federal & state authorities. The state does answer but I have never received a response from the federal authorities.

I answered my phone and was hung up on by this number found as Unknown name on my phone at 2:04 pm on Wdnesday Dec. 12th 2012.

call came in at 9:15 9/26/12.Hung up before machine grabbed it.

Just got my 6th "Urgent Message from Medicare" from these criminals. I keep blasting them with a disconnected message, but it's not working on them. They usually call early in the morning. Don't theyhave 300 million other numbers to call too? When do they find the time to call a number where they havenever gotten a live person, and usually get a disconnect tone...

hung up on this caller, then tried to call back to advise I am on do not call list my call would not go thru

Call came in. Rang 3 times and stopped. No message. I did try dialing it back. Call could not go through as dialed. When I found out it was from Dominican Republic, I called my phone carrier. They said that individual numbers can't be blocked and they say I will not be charged anyway since it was an incoming call. Also they say I will not be charged for trying to dial it back since it could not be connected. At least it is on record with them that it happened.

Someone please stop these calls......if you press 2 you just get someone who hangs up on you. i'm also on the do not call list....

Any caller that sounds like he/she is in a chicken ranch and won't give you their name clearly on the first try hang up - they have wasted their time. After the election I switched my number from landline to wireless and unwanted unsolicited calls are more frequent (is the phone company naughty). I have been on the Do Not Call list for years and check annually to confirm. These blogs have been successful in helping people identify who is calling. So lets take it one more step and post by name and proported purpose when we receive them. Any ideas where and how to publish their names i.e. American Senior Assistance. If there is such a space please let me know. I am tired of scam artists.

The number could well be spoofed from somewhere other than the DR, since the NANPA only shows 849-222 as the only assigned exchange and the NPA itself is rather new.
