This is an emergency physicians billing center, if you've been to the emergency room in the past year they are calling because your insurance provider didn't approve in-network services or didn't pay the amount that the emergency physicians billed for the services provided. It was a gentleman that had an Indian accent, but he wasn't rude or anything. He stated that unless I call my insurance provider (Cigna) and ask them to reprocess at a higher payout that the physicians office would bill me directly for the unpaid balance. I checked the claim on Cigna and sure enough at the bottom of the claim it said that if the doctor that treated you says that they will bill you directly for any unpaid fees due to them not accepting the allowed amount or contracted amount then please contact Cigna and submit the bill so that Cigna can pay the remaining balance. It might be a good idea to answer this one, because who wants to end up with a couple thousand dollar bill just because you weren't willing to listen to cooperate on the phone. They didn't ask me to verify anything other than my address and name, so I didn't think that it was that big of a deal. Anyone can google that nowadays. They are probably a contracted call center in India that's cheap to hire, hense the reason for the accents. Just because someone has an Indian accent does not make them a bad or ignorant person.
Kaley - I hope you didn't give them actual money - you should have received something in mail regarding this matter, not random phone calls 2 or 3 times a day. Either that you're working for said number and want people to think it's legit. It's not, anytime my insurance provider has had disputes or physicians offices have had to verify anything, they call directly or we get something in the mail. No way an emergency room or physician's office or insurance company is hiring an overseas phone bank to make these calls. They already have in house staff for billing purposes. So no one listen to Kaley, "she's" probably a troll trying to make this sound legit, and if "she's" not, she just gave India money that she didn't owe.
To all, AGREE with Bob and disregard Kaley's comment. As off 9/21/16, I received the same call. The woman asked me to verify my name and address. I told her I was busy at work and she would have to call back in the evening. The man called back, and out of curiosity I answered the phone. I will tell you why I knew it was a scam before answering the phone.I received the call from the woman first, and then later the man. Somehow they have managed to get the area code from my cell phone, and call me using a number that begins with my area code. Before answering the call, I already knew it was either a telemarketer or a scam because the area code came from my original phone number from my hometown. I haven't lived in my hometown in over a decade. Anyone calling my phone number with that same area code should not be calling because everyone I know has since lost my phone number. We also have social media ---FACEBOOK anyone? Who the hell calls each other anymore. I live in a completely different area code. Now you should also know, that means this scammer team has hacked into someone's system. It is true that I was in the emergency room, but I had visited another medical facility before being referred to the ER that very same day. On my medical records ONLY I have my original phone number listed with my hometown area code. So the scammer team could have hacked the hospital database, the medical clinic database (where I was before being referred to the ER), or even the billing department (which means they may understand billing codes). So in conclusion, this is in fact a SCAM. I noticed no one on here has said they contacted their insurance. I did contact my insurance provider (at the time of service) which was Cigna. So in my case, this was another alert for me because the man identified my insurance provider as Cigna and that no longer applies. Plus, I have already received the EOB (explanation of Benefits) from Cigna. I contacted Cigna to let them know that it is possible their database has been hacked. For no reason would a Patient Services Provider call me and tell ME to contact my insurance and tell them to reprocess a claim at a higher rate. THAT IS NOT THE JOB OF A PATIENT --- EVER!!!!! Come on people. I've only been on earth a couple of decades, but seriously, how does one not understand that a patient isn't responsible to communicate to insurance companies and providers about their billing process. You would need to have a job, a career in "coding." There is an actual job position that is called "encoding," and you can attend college for a couple of years to be a certified billing specialist for insurance companies and providers. What happened to people watching commercials. Goodness, they promote this line of work all the time on tv from trade colleges such as DeVry, Phoenix, Strayer, etc.If you call back the 855 number they gave you, you will hear a professional voice saying, "Thank you for calling PATIENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT." It sounds very professional and you will be playing right into their hand.In the meantime, if you read nothing else but the last of my post.THIS IS A SCAM! THIS IS A SCAM! THIS IS A SCAM! Call you insurance company to tell them someone has hacked their database and making calls to their patients asking them to have YOU as the patient call them and ask them to process the claim at a higher bill. The billing department will tell you this is a SCAM. I hope you haven't called this 855 number back and given out any information.
I just got the call, they left a message and yes the woman had an Indian accent. No way in HELL would I call them back. I wouldn't give them any info anyway. Never give out info to anyone! I don't even like to email personal info due to hacking. If a doctor or facility contracts with Cigna, I don't care what it says, they can only charge you contracted amount and your are not responsible for additional fees. They must just be targeting ER visits, I was just to the ER, then put in the hospital for observation 3 weeks ago. Anyone from a call center overseas, I wouldn't trust with my life, I have never found one that wasn't a scam. Oh, I use to work for HCA corporate office and the hospital I went to was an HCA affiliate - this is NOT how they do business!!!!
Yep, I have Cigna and when I called and asked about a call I received about my insurance... They told me that they would never call unless I called first.. They send email or usp mail.
855-356-3194Be aware, there appear to be people who work for this scam company posting on all "who called me" sites attached to their number explaining how this is a legit call. IT IS NOT! THIS IS A SCAM! They are somehow phishing people's information and attempting to take advantage. The quickest way to figure this out is to ask them for their name, business address, and contact number, and ask for the information on this "debt" to be sent to you in writing in compliance with the law. If they DO manage to give you the address (which they won't) send the request in writing, and also ask to be taken off their phone list. This applies to any collector - this is the law, look it up. I've dealt with MANY scammers. This is just another one of them. Do not take the word of a couple of their "employees" posting in these forums acting as a regular joe with a "legit debt" with them. Those posts are here to make you comfortable with handing over your information and/or money.
While much of this is correct, it is pointless to call your insurance provider and ask them to pay more money. No insurance company is going to reprocess or pay more money without an actual bill! These people have been calling me two times per day for three solid months. Every single morning at 8:36am and every night at 8:36pm. Like clockwork. They also send out letters, and I actually did call back in response to one of those letters months ago. They simply want your insurance company to pay more than the amount they are contracted to be paid. I had an ER visit in April 2016 and the Dr. was paid the amount allowed as per my insurance. However, they will tell you that your insurance company "severely underpaid" and they want to be paid more. So I called my insurance company (Cigna) and told them about the letter and the phone call. Cigna said to call them back and ask them to submit a bill, to me or to Cigna, and only then would they reprocess the claim and decide whether to pay more or not. The bill should include the amount due, procedure codes, etc. But, they NEVER send a bill. Told these people several times that if you want to be paid anything, send a bill and since they simply refuse to do that, to me, this is a scam. Not to mention, the hundreds of calls they have made are pure harassment.
I've received several calls from this number. Sometimes at odd hours of the day. From morning to late at night. Most the time, they do not leave a message. They did leave a message today. It was hard to understand, but from what I was able to comprehend, they said I had services from a hospital that I've never heard of and to call them back for the urgent billing. That's when I confirmed that it's a scam. If a "debt collector" keeps calling, then why haven't I received anything in the mail? I called my insurance (Cigna) and they confirmed that to reprocess anything, they would need the bill.
I just received this call on my cell phone from a woman with an Indian accent. After confirming that she was speaking to the right party, I refused to verify my address and hung up. I also was seen in the ER of a hospital in another state (NJ). My insurance is Aetna, and they sent me an EOB and paid the hospital. The hospital then billed me for an additional $75.00 and I paid it. That was months ago, but it does appear that someone's system has been hacked.
It is not a SCAM! I have personally dealt with these people several times. They don't want your money they stay on the line with you while you contact Cigna health plan and they help get the insurance to pay the physicians requested amount so we don't have to pay it. It is legit and my insurance company always pays the amount requested but you have to contact them first. It is it a scam and if you have been to the hospital and don't want to be sent a bill by the ER doctors then you better answer the call. Yes they verify your info and it seems fishy but I have delt with them numerous times and have saved the phone number because of many hospital visits in past year. They call from same number and once you verify they can tell you date if ER visit and physician.
