received a phone call from this number fine gentlemen could barely speak English told me there's a problem with my health insurance and wanted me to verify some information I told him if there was a problem with my health insurance I would call my health insurance provider and ask him myself and I did and found out it's a fishing Expedition
I am getting a call from this number daily, telling me there is a problem with insurance, but I need to verify my information before they will tell me the problem. I called my insurance company and reported this, ThIS IS A SCAM
fraudualent people calling in talking about debts that they send out no documentation in regards to ...so the person wouldn't have no proof they paid they will be shut down they soon ...lol
Call looking for my wife. I tell them that she is in the hospital. They ask if they are speaking to the spouse. They ask to verify her birth date and say that there is a problem with her insurance. There is no problem with her insurance.
One huge problem on 800Notes is that people think their view is more important than the law or reality or the real world experiences of total strangers. These callers may, in the very strictest sense, be third party debt collectors, but I'm pretty sure they are not at all covered by federal or state collection laws you refer to. I, frankly, don't know. But, I do know this:The doctors involved in the calls I received DO NOT DO THEIR OWN BILLING. These people do the ORIGINAL billing for the doctors. These people, therefore, are operating "as if" they are in the doctor's office, sending out the bills and making the calls. They are collecting debts, to be sure. But, they are not the sort of "debt collectors" who take on old debts and try to turn them into money. What they do is exactly the same as a person in a small doctor's practice does: Prepare bills, send them out, and follow up. They just happen to be doing billing for millions of patients in dozens of states and no telling how many different individual doctors' practices. Therefore, none of the things that would apply if they were trying to collect year-old debt as a third party following up on the original billing matter, when they make a call. They are a third party, but they have the legal standing of the original creditor, since the original creditor does no billing, and these bothersome people do it on the original creditor's behalf. The doctor or hospital is the original creditor . . . but they are not sending out bills. These people are doing it for them.
So, I've done like you. I get this call daily but I never answer, and I googled the number. Someone suggested it's for collections based on emergency health care, and I kinda think that makes the most sense. I'm 31 and had a sudden stroke, and after I got out of the hospital I get this call daily. I also got loads of hospital and insurance letters wanting my prompt repayment, lol. Again, I've never answered them and could be totally wrong, but I get this call daily anywhere from 10am thru 2pm, and it's not like the other spam that go out of way to change numbers. Hopefully that helps, YMMV ;) ... Of course... Maybe I really did win a cruise and they've just been trying to get a hold of me this whole time, lol °_°
I received a call from this number about 5-10 minutes ago and I was in the middle of locking my phone when it started ringing, so it hung up on them. They didn't leave a message. I came straight here and started reading everyone's posts, and it doesn't add up for me. I recently visited the ER, yes, but I haven't even received my bill from the hospital yet, and I know for a fact that there's nothing wrong with my insurance. I won't be answering this call if they try again in the future and I'll be contacting my insurance provider very soon.
Replying to my original message: I logged in to my insurance provider's website and all of my recent claims have been processed with no problems. So if you've never had a problem with your insurance company and the people that call you are telling you they have had problems processing your insurance claim, they're lying. This is a SCAM. Do not answer your phone and do not give your personal information to them. Do not answer, or hang up and tell your insurance provider.
This number called many times, never left a message. Person calling dis not identify themselves, had heavy Indian accent. They said our health insurance did not cover my daughter's emergency room change. I said this directly contradicted all correspondence with my health insurance company, and hung up.
