same thing just happen about 1 hr ago...same claim...it is a HOAX

Yes and 858 is a San Diego number because that is where my sister lives and that's her area code! Additionally the call came thru on my home landline #. Wish there is a way to get these people!!

They said hey mom and im a guy and their like mom go turn on your computer mom and shes like turn it on so i said ok and then i just sat their and didnt turn on my computer and then they hung up and i dont know how they got my number

Note to everyone: you can report any scamming to the FTC at spam@uce.gov - I got this email years ago on the Dr Phil show while watching an episode on this. I forward my spam emails to them as well. Since Dr Phil gave it out, it's got to be legit, right?! Hope this helps.

Just got a call from Indian man claiming I had a virus on my computer and asked me to go to the internet and click on the flag bottom key and the letter R and enter in a code. Luckily I didnt punch in the code and I got disconnected with the caller. My husband aswered the phone when he called back and he hung up.

Just received the same call. People please remember no one will call you to help you with your computer..... Just another wat to SCAM people!!!

Just happened here. Some kid stating he was an IT professional and that my compuiter was sending malicious mails and viruses...at that point I just hung up on him. I'm so happy we have a "Do Not Call List" for fools such as this to be able to call and disturb people with nonsense!!!!!! As my name states, I am DISGUSTED with these ridiculous callers and nothing is ever done to them because they use cell phones and even when they don't use the cell phone they use the pc to call which makes them non-traceable. It's disgusting!!!

I have missed two calls from this number. The first time, no voicemail was left. The second time, they attempted to leave a voicemail, but it was two seconds of silence.

guy called told me my computer had a problem I told him I didn't have one and he said no your laptop so I said put me on your do not call list and hung up stupid scammers

I just received a call from a person identifying himself (with a strong Indian accent) as a Microsoft rep and told me that my computer had a serious virus. I told him that I would have to call him back as I was in the middle of something. He confirmed my name, said his name was "Peter", and gave me a callback number that was different from the number registered on my caller id. I told him that,"by the way", I have a Mac, not a PC. So he told me, "you do not have a virus, after all." End of call. For your info, the two numbers are 888-463-7406 and 858-102-3252. Yes, this is a scam, and I am reporting it to the Inspector General at 800-447-8477.
