Told me there was unwanted viruses that could be downloaded to computer and wanted to show me how to fix the problem while they were on the phone.
i got the same man telling me something about my windows i told him i didn't use anything and hung up.. it's a scam. don't answer if anyone calls from this number it is a number from india
how did they get your number i got on my computer and they told me that my window's had a virus, how do they get your number weird huh? well, i have norton, maybe it is from norton
same indian guy called while I was at work. I told him I manage my own computer software just fine and have no viruses at the moment. He got cranky and asked if I was a computer software engineer or something, and that other wise I wouldn't know what I was talking about. As it turns out I am a software engineer and he hung up real quick after I told him so. :)
I just got a call from this number. I did not answer it, as I did not recognize area code. They got my vm, but did not leave a message, in fact, it was totally silent the entire 4 seconds of the voicemail. I decided to look up the number, and found all the posts here! Technology can be sooo great! Now I know its a scam! Kind of want him to call back so I can tell him what I think of him! :)
I love your little story. Just upgraded your windows which also work as storm windows and are easy to paint! I wish I could have seen his face! I am on the do not call list and these guys just called me too. Where are they getting our numbers from? I was actually trying to take a nap since I am home sick and really love being disturbed by these idiots!!! So annoying!!!!
so after readding all of these posts. I thought what the heck lets call back. You can't I wanted to have some fun with the guy.
These jerks call me just about every other day. On one occasion I let them talk me through their "scam", to see what they do. They have you log onto a remote access program (that's when I stopped following his instructions) and when they get access, they can either plant garbage on your computer that "requires" them to fix it, or simply steal info from your machine, like financial info, address book, etc. These guys tend to not leave you alone, regardless of your requests, threats, etc. However, there are a number of ways you can get rid of them. Things like "I don't own a computer", or "which operating system do I have a problem with?","I work for Microsoft", and even telling them that you have researched their operation on the Internet, and found nothing but fraud statements. BTW, while they don't know which operating system you have, telling them that your are using Linux, a Mac, or another OS doesn't stop them, since all they require is that you log onto the Internet. Here's my challenge to this thread. Let's see who can come up with the most creative way to get these idiots to hang up. I'm thinking a very loud buzzer in the ear, to pretending that you don't understand them (keep asking them to repeat), telling them that you have to answer the door (and then don't return for about 5 minutes. Oh, and then this one. Tell them that nature just called, and you can't wait any longer. If they don't understand that, then you can specifically tell them that you are full of crap just like they are.The challenge is on. Give it your best shot!!
