Someone from this phone number has called twice in the last couple days and several times over the past few months. The caller asks for my boyfriend and I hang up on them. Today I picked up the phone and without waiting for them to say anything said in a stern voice quit calling us and slammed the receiver down. It's most likely some charity wanting a donation but neither my boyfriend nor I make donations over the phone. If we have the funds, we'll go directly to the charity/organization's web site and donate that way... cut out the middle man. If they call again tomorrow, I'll pick up the receiver and say again in a stern voice, he's not available and to take our phone number off their internal call list.... then if they call again, I'll see about blocking the phone number.... so annoying!

I agree. It's hard to be civil sometimes, but it's (usually) not the person at the other end of the line that is the problem. I've given up on the DNC list—I'm registered, but it makes no difference. I think the best thing is to buy a cordless phone with the biggest amount of space for adding numbers to your BLOCK list. Mine only has 50, but I think there are units with room for 150.Every few months I clear all 50 numbers, then start adding them again as the new calls begin. I never up the phone unless I recognize the name. If they just hang up, I add them to the BLOCK list. I refuse to put up with marketing calls any more. And I call back my friends as soon as it's convenient for ME. "I am not answering this call unless you are on my call-list OR you leave a brief message and contact number."

They call me every evening. File a complaint with FCC.gov and perhaps something can be done about this caller.

They just called and asked for me by my maiden name. I said: there's no one here by that name. so they said: we'll change our records...

Does anyone using the name Gordon Schwenkm think that their call won't be blocked by the third ring?Well even if the obvious fake name on my Caller ID wasn't enough to get my finger to hit the red Block button, the 858 area code confirmed my suspicion. I've never even heard of that area code before. Fake name, fake phone number. Blocked. Adios, machacho!
