Credit card scammers of some type. I answered once and some young guy trying to sound old that said his name was "Frank" and that he was "card-member services answered." I asked Frank to please take me off his call list and then he hung up. They called again so I just added the number to my auto-reject list. If they keep trying I might look in to further action- pretty annoying.
Don't be naive. They are scammers and won't have a license. And Do Not Call is Federal, not State, and they aren't there to protect citizens, but to "follow trends." Filing with Florida is useless because criminals use spoofed and phished untraceable numbers that change, and because the state is short on manpower. The FTC tells you that you can sue, but you have to meet legal requirements, be able to identify the scammer first, have legally valid documentation of the specifics of the calls, and you can't, so forget about it. What Florida can, and will, do are two different things. The most mature thing to do is to not answer scam calls, safer too. Don't engage them. If you are naive enough to ask them for a license number, they'll laugh at you.
No, we wouldn't. You're naive. The DNC and FTC employees are overworked burnouts, and their technicians aren't as good or as motivated as the scammers, either. And enough people do still waste time reporting the calls, but nothing has been done or will be done by FTC in the future. You need to become more realistic and learn to ignore the calls. Don't engage scammers, it only encourages them. Reporting the call here might help someone else, though. But the FTC? No. Reporting it here helps the next person validate their decision not to answer the call, when they check the number first.
Dont answer these calls from Lakeland , FL anmore, well known scammers.. Any call from states I don't know or dont t know the name that appears on Caller ID. We DOD NOT ANSWER them anymore. When I want to waste time I look them up Most of them are ROBOCALLS and CC scammers anyway so why bother..
I have been using selective call forwarding to have these Scumbags calls go to a fake # that gives them the recording "You’ve reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service." After 1 1/2 years of doing this I still get the calls, as they can spoof more #'s than I can forward. I wonder if I forward their calls to the FTC or some other government agency will help or just get me into trouble?Any intelligent suggestions are more than welcome.
