I got a call from this number and they left me a vm saying I had suspicious transactions on my account. Called them back and they gave me the info on 2 questionable transactions. I got worried when they asked me for my account number. I hung up and called the KEY2YOU number. Customer service did verify that this was one of their departments that had called me and my card had in fact been compromised. They even verified the same 2 suspicious transactions and had to re-issue my card.
Caller ID is easy to fake, so I've no doubt that some of these call reports could have been fake calls. Don't trust the number coming in. Call them back instead. And if you are going to call them back, you may as well call the main number fro KeyBank. 1800Key2You 800-539-2968. That said, I had done an out of ordinary purchase, my card was blocked and this number called me. I called them back and they asked for enough info that they could have duplicated my card. They asked for my card number and address. I stopped before providing all of it and called 1800Key2You and completed the transaction there in order to satisfy my safety concerns.
Received this call which was a voice mail about a potential out of state fraudulent charge on my Keybank account. I checked online and yep, a couple of fraudulent charges were made so I called the number. As I was calling I checked this site (my go to site to see who the heck is calling) and saw all of these people saying scam so I immediately hung up. I ended up calling the number on the back of my card (ALWAYS DO THIS!) and reported the activity. My rep told me that my account had been flagged for suspicious activity and could not confirm that anyone from Keybank called and told me I did the right thing by calling the number on the back of the card. I actually believe this was from the Jimmy Johns credit card hack so card is cancelled and dispute activated. Hooray for keybank for detecting this after a second try from someone in Georgia. Hope you like the 50 things you bought at the dollar store and then getting rejected!
It is Key bank.I Got a call from 866-821-9096, the person left a voice message asking me to respond, to possible fraudulent charges. There was a purchase pending on my card that I had not made. Ironically enough I had just checked my account earlier in the morning, there was no pending activity in the morning, nor should there have been. When I received the call from this Number and checked my account again, the pending charge was there. I called the Key bank 1-800 number, and gave them this number 866-821-9096. The person I spoke to said that this number is associated with Key Bank Fraud department. Bottom Line call the bank back directly. To the scumbag that has hacked my information, good luck, all accounts associated with this card have been closed.
This is legitimately Key Bank. I first called the 866-821-9096 number back and they informed me about 2 fraudulent charges on my card. I hung up as it did feel mildly suspicious and then called the number on the back of my card (1800Key2You). They confirmed the exact same dollar amounts for the same two fraudulent charges, cancelled my card, and are sending a new one. It's upsetting to see people calling this a scam, it is not. I panicked thinking I had my identity stolen and was relieved to hear the 1800Key2You representative confirm what the 866-821-9096 representative had told me.Lesson learned, however. I will ALWAYS be sure to call the number on the back of my card… just in case.
This number is really from Key Bank an it is their Fraud Department, an NOT A SCAMMER. I answered an was informed someone was trying to use my card in another state. I would answer this phone if u see this number for it could save u a ton of headaches with ur bank account.
I received a msg from this number saying there was suspicious transition on my account. I called it back and thought it was strange that a person actually answered also the first thing they ask me for was my social security number. I thought that was strange because if they call me they should have known that info. I hung up and call key bank 800 number. There was a online transaction on $8.74 that I didn't make. So they canceled my card. Bottom line... No matter if number is legit or not you should neve give your ss number to anyone that calls you! If that is a legit number then Key Bank needs to be smarter then to ask that info and expect someone to give it to them!
Received a phone message from Credit Card Fraud Dept, asking me to call back at this number. Instead I phoned the 800 number on the back of the card. Key Bank said the call was legitimate, and there had been attempted fraudulent charges to my card. I told KeyBank that I didn't call back to the 866 number because it isn't listed on their website. This creates confusion for KeyBank customers.
I just received one of the 866-821-9096 with them asking for "confirmation" of my debit card number. Not in my wildest dreams would I ever confirm anything over the phone to anyone calling me. I instead, called the 800 number for Key Bank and talk to the fraud department. The said that they NEVER call and ask for any information dealing with numbers. Instead, their standing company policy is to call you, and if you answer, to ask you to call them back on the 800 number. If you don't answer, they will leave a message asking you to call back on the 800 number. The agent informed me that he knew of no 866 number for Key Bank and to NEVER, NEVER confirm any information with anyone calling me who claims to be from Key Bank - instead, call the 800 number.
