Got the same call at our home as well. Definitely is fraudulent.

Received a call saying my debit card was being used. I called Key bank and checked online and sure enough there was a $5 charge. When I called Key bank they said another $340 charge was attempted but Key had locked the account. Good job Key bank. They are sending me a new card. I've had the card for almost a year and I have never used it.

This is, in fact, Key Bank calling. Last evening, I received a call from 866-821-9096, but having received so many calls from suspect numbers every day, I blocked it. This morning I tried to make a purchase with my Key Bank credit card and it was denied. I contacted Key at the number on my card and was informed that a hold had been put on the account due to an attempted fraudulent purchase. Key is issuing me a new credit card. The rep told me that Key should have contacted me (and, indeed, they had!). The 866 cid showed "toll free call" so... how are we to differentiate between legitimate and fraudulent?

I called Key Bank it was indeed from their fraud department. So the call was legit. ThanK God..BUT like the rep. said always call and make sure..

This is Key Bank fraud department. To be safe, I called back to the number on the back of my card. They confirmed they were calling about a potential fraudulent transaction.

I got a voicemail from this number saying it was KeyBank investigating a fraudulent charge on my business card and left this as a callback number. When I called back, they asked if I had a reference number (they never gave me one) and then they said that they could verify the account if I gave them my social security number, account number, or card number. Naturally I didn't and hung up immediately. Actual bank numbers will never ask for your full information like that over the phone. Definitely a scam.

That number 866-821-9096 IS Key Bank, but thanks for putting out nonsense on the Internet. It's a legit number.

This is correct, it is definitely the KeyBank credit Card fraud department making sue you authorized the purchase

Caller left a message stating they were calling for me and they work for Key bank credit card services and they wanted to verify recent activity on my account and to call back with a reference number that was the last 4 digits of my card. I didn't call this number they called from, I called 1-800-Key-2-You after looking at my account online. Yes, there was a fraudulent charge in a State I've never been to. The charge was pending and Key bank is shutting down my card and sending a new one and my money will be returned to me in one business day.
