I received the message:This is the Georgia's Own Credit Union fraud detection center calling to verify recent transactions on your Georgia's Own Credit Union debit card ending in XXXX. Due to unusual activity, a temporary hold may have been placed on your card. Please have ???? Garcia call us as soon as possible at 877-253-8964. You'll be asked to enter case number 101136XXXX. Again, the toll free number is 877-253-8964 and enter case number 101136XXXX. We're available 24 hours a day. Thank you.It is a wrong number because I am not the guy with the card and that is not my credit union. I called the fraud prevention line yesterday and their automated system allowed me to enter my phone number as a wrong number. They called me again today. Broken system. I'm blocking the phone number from now on. Poor Mr. Garcia with his debit card being blocked!
I found out from my bank that nuber is false. If you receive a call from it.. most likely your bank card has been used by these people. Mine hadn't yet however my bank issued me new numbers. From now on when I'm online shopping I will use a prepaid card like walmart or green dot..
Spoke to VISA. Number is legit, but it is ALWAYS good practice to NEVER give your personal information online. Be safe and use the number located on the back of your card.
Legit... no they are the ones who stole from you.... too many people have posted that it's a fraud..
Yes it is all true, the operator did say the same thing here. There have been problems at that retailer place before, that is the place of the last couple transactions I made. I will use only cash when getting services there from now on. At any rate don't wait that card could be shut down for now, until you correct the matter promptly.
It's a scam! The same hackers are posting on this exact site what appears to be legit...call ur bank and ignore there calls....!!
I got a call from this number and called the number on the back of my card. there was unauthorized activity on my card, but ALWAYS call your bank first.
This TRULY IS a LEGITIMATE company.... they are a "clearinghouse" for various banks and check out fraud issues. They say your bank's name when they leave a message as well as your name and give you a case number. They ask for your name as on your debit card for verification and the last four digits of SS#. If anyone EVER ASKS FOR ANYTHING MORE THEN YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED/HANG-UP REPORT, ETC, but common sense is they ask these questions to PROTECT the consumer. They really are FAST and LOOKING out for the companies (and their customers), but as I spoke with the representative and told her about how I checked out the number (did my research--especially since they called on Sunday) and found many people thought this was a scam and she said she had heard the same thing the prior day from another woman. I'm glad I called when I did and took care of the issue, honestly. If you do feel funny call your bank and make sure this is a company that works for them. (I did and then realized SUNDAY--DUH!!) But the "fraud" did happen earlier today so they are FAST and in my opinion competent. If you're like me and make many on-line purchases this is not an uncommon thing (especially when you deal with a company that is not in the US where I am). PS I have "UNKNOWN" under "Call Type" below because there is not a choice that fits for this company.
I called my local bank today, after I recevied a call) and apparently it is a legit fraud detection company that (probably) most banks use...it is a 3rd party company that will call you if they suspect a fraudulent transaction. My advice to you is that you go directly to your banking center to take care of it if you do not feel comfortable telling your info over the phone. I'm on my way right now.
