Received a message from them, urgent that I call them back...also got a letter in the mail requesting I fill out a w-9! Return envelope was a PO Box in Arizona I googled it and it was a scam! The help numbers on the letter were 844 area code numbers and I looked them up, also a scam! Why would the need a w-9 after being a customer for 20 years and I'm not employed by them! Said they would close my account September 1st if they haven't received it....guess I'll wait to see what happens then!

Why would they need to send me a 1099? I've not been paid by them....I only pay them?! (I didn't mean employed by them, I should have said paid by them) ty

Wrong, BigA. The W-2 is a form used by your employer to report your earnings and taxes withheld to both you and the IRS. The form you are thinking of is called W-4, and is used to establish your level of withholding from your paychecks. It is something YOU fill out and give to your employer. However, your comments about the W-9 form were spot on!!

Did they close your account? I received the same letter and am very sceptical.

Received automated call from 1-877-488-7842 stating it was "Bank of America" "compliance processing and monitoring dept" and that this "is not a sales call" . They needed to verify the "customer profile". This call was the most realistic call I ever heard! It even said if you don't think you should have received this message call 1-877-551-0217.I called Bank of America. They told me to ignore it. It is not legit. BoA real compliance dept number is 1-844-253-3707, and he said they would send you a letter, not call.

Scammer for bank of America. They called my cell phone demanding personal information. Call blocked

Called & left msg for my wife that it was urgent she call BofA at this number to resolve an issue. Since my name is primary on this account it didn't make sense they would be asking her to call them. We will NOT be returning the call

Received a call from this number stating it was from BOA (I don't have an account with them) stating that there was an urgent matter regarding my account.

I got the message with urgent request I call the compliance department. Didn't make sense, since I don't have a BoA account. Spoke with woman who tried to extract last 4 digits of my SS#. Sounded off. She referred to me by my first name. When I resisted she urged me to go to the "banking center". Scams are getting more sophisticated. Be careful.
