Got a call on my cell with a version of my name. As I was going to the Bank anyway, I showed the message to the clerk. She checked my account, and it did have a compliance flag on it ( and a wrong SSN for me). I noted the number the clerk gave me to call if I wanted to correct it by phone was just slightly different (877-488-7242, not 7842, we wondered if perhaps it was an alternate line). My plan is to go into the bank with the required ID info and deal directly with a clerk, just to be safe.

This is NOT a scam! BoA will send you a letter with the same control number on the first page (top right) that they reference in their voice mail. The purpose for the letter is to update/verify SSN by completing the W9 form and mail it back to them. If you do not feel comfortable with mailing in or talking to them on the phone, then go to a local branch. However, the local branch will still call the compliance office (877-488-7842) using the referenced control number to update the SSN information.

Received voicemail on my work number from 877-488-7842, claiming it was from Bank of America with an urgent message regarding one of my company accounts and they repeated the name of company twice but with a slight error. They also provided a reference number that I should use when calling back to "ensure this problem gets resolved as quickly as possible." Definitely a scam

they called me too.. it sound like a scam

I just got a call from this number asking for address and ask me if I was a resident or USA citizen from USA ,I told her I'll was going to branch she claim to be from bank of america and she said no problem

This is a scam call. Something sounded off when they called and immediately asked for my date of birth. Be careful.

We do have a BOA account. Got a voice mail message from "Michelle'' on our home number, asking another person ( no one we've ever heard of ) to call the ''Compliance'' dept about an'' urgent matter.'' Gave business hours and a control number. Speaker had a Southern accent and spoke rapidly. Said they would need the ''number on the back of your card.'' On my caller ID the number came up as "unavailable'' which seemed strange to me for a bank. Since we have online banking I figured there would be an alert on the account if something was wrong, and planned to call BOA directly ( not this number ) today to find out.if they had called, especially as the message was directed to someone else. However after reading these posts I will assume this was a phishing attempt and report it to the do not call registry.

This could be an inside BOA scam. I received a call from this same number & given a control number for an urgent matter. I chose to call back the number on the back of my card. The first person I spoke with from BOA stated, " BOA would never leave a message with a control number" but then when I was transferred to risk department, they wanted me to provide my SS or bank acct number. They stated that the compliance dept may have called me. The compliance dept also requested info that I would not provide. Scary! I will prob switch banks!

Received a VM for a named person not at this number, stating Bank of America compliance dept, left phone no & control no. Ignored it.

Urgent matter. Gave number to call back and a control number. Said Bank of America needed information. Had received a letter recently from Bank of America supposedly and asked for birthdate and SSN. This was also a scam.
