I just got a call from this number. They left no message. I called back and a recording said that it was in reference to a credit card with the last 4 digits of XXXX. The last four digits of my US Bank card. They asked me to put in the last 4 of my SSN and I hung up. I called US Bank to check my account and they assured me that no one called me from US Bank. They do not call people over the phone unless it is from collections and that is not the number for their collections department. Be careful - this number is being used to get your money. Don't ever give your social security number or cc numbers to anyone over the phone unless you know it is the same number on your written document that came with your cc paperwork or online on THEIR web-site.
They call me from "us bank credit card services" claiming that I have an outstanding balance on a credit card ending in XXXX. They can't produce a full credit card number when challenged and blow smoke about security. I don't have any association with US Bank so know this is a SCAM
I received a call on my cell from 877-838-4347. I asked who they were. She said her name was Brenda. I said Brenda from where. She would not tell me what company she was from. I hung up. I searched the phone number on the web, which led me to this site. According to this site it is a US Bank #. I don't have any past due accounts as far as I know, and I don't have a US Bank credit card or bank account. I would think if it was US Bank, the person calling would have said so.
This number called me. Got message please hold an operator will be with you shortly. Guy said his name was Harvey answered. Went over my USBank cc details and what I owe. I said I was aware I owe on the account and have been making payments. He said he was calling today to bring the account up to date and then said nothing for several seconds. I assumed this meant he was waiting for me to say something. I asked him what his proposal was for bringing the account up to date and he did not comprehend the question sat all. He started flinging things back at me about my account and what I owed. I was beginning to get a bit short in my responses but was respectful through the entirety of the call. He asked if I had a way to make a payment today and when I said I was not working right now he said well then there is nothing we can do for you. He said to do business with him in the future to call 8778384347 extension 1560363. He acted like his inability to comprehend proposal was my fault and a personal insult to him. I asked repeatedly to speak to his supervisor and repeatedly he refused. Called him back again asking to speak to supervisor and he still refused. 3rd call he said he was "going to get my supervisor, just for you miss" then put me on hold several minutes. He came back and said that unless I was willing to talk business on the account he was going to release the call. I asked about the supervisor and he said that he had spoken to his supervisor and that there was no supervisor who was going to take the time to speak to me. I asked him if he had lied to me when he said he was going to get the supervisor for me and he would not answer my question. I called 877 number back after Harvey hung up on me and told the operator I got that I had been having issues and just wanted to speak to Harvey's supervisor but that he absolutely refused to connect me. Using Harvey's ext 1560363 this operator was able to inform me that Harvey's supervisor is Ms. Chaz Cornelius and connected me. Left a message on Ms. Cornelius's voicemail stating name, telephone number and requesting call back as soon as possible. Even when people owe debts, they should not be treated like Harvey treated me. I will be calling back repeatedly until I get in contact with Ms. Chaz Cornelius or her supervisor(s) if need be.
I also asked Harvey during the last call if he worked for US Bank. His response was "You just went through all your account information, I verified it and you want to ask me if I work for USBank?" As if answering that question would put him in the ranks of the stupendously idiotic. I just wanted a yes or no but he refused. It is not difficult to answer yes or no to "Do you work for USBank?"
My parents keep getting these calls for my sister and her husband. The first caller say she was calling from efinancials but the return number is the same 877-838-4347. Happily I found all of these posts on line. I told my mother about Norman/Maxwell and said to let my Dad loose to practice his spanish or pretending that he cannot hear them (not too big of a stretch). Seriously, it is upsetting to receive these calls over and over again, especially for my parents not knowing who they are.
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISION www.ots.gov - you can email the intial complaint and they will respond asking you to print your email sign it and fax it to them. Banks and credit card companies IGNORE your valid complaint when its their ERROR - but they cannot IGNORE complaints the come in via the OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISION.They fix their mistakes FAST when OTS is involved. Worked for me twice! 2 different banks..
I got a call from them a few minutes ago. I answered and they hung up. I called back using *67 but they still saw my phone number somehow because the recording askied if my card number ended in XXXX, which it does. I stopped paying the card because I called them trying to work a payment plan out to keep making payments on time (since I have never made a late payment previously) but the lady said they would not do anything until I was late... What a bunch of B.S. So now I'm giving them what they wanted. Unfortunately for them I am very familiar with the collection business. My buddy is actually the number one closer for a major credit lending company. These people want to play hard ball. DO NOT be intimidated! Stay calm. The worst they can do to you is hurt your credit score. This is your chance to negotiate lower terms. Here's the reason... If you stop paying all together, your debt will be sold to a 3rd party collection agency as part of a larger portfolio for around 10% or less of the total value. So you do the math... whatever your debt is, take 10% of that and that is the most they will get when they sell your debt. So you have 90% to work with. Also, if they make any threats or tell someone other than yourself any information about the nature of the phone call, TALK TO A LAWYER. There are very specific laws in this area, which is why they are attempting to confirm your identity as the card holder. It is ILLEGAL for them to disclose any information to any person other than the debt holder. The ball is in your court folks... The credit card companies had no quams screwing the little guy and raising rates to ridiculous amounts even if you had no late payments. This is UNSECURED credit, and they can't do a thing to you other than hurt your credit... BIG DEAL.These people are A-holes, and get what they deserve. I personally will not pay them unless they reduce my balance by at least 50% and put my APY to 0%. Otherwise I'll take the credit hit and dispute every single late charge with the credit bureaus. They have to respond or it is wiped clean. This is the game these people play... learn the rules and play back!Keep in mind the person on the other end of the phone is no rocket scientist. They have a floor of people making phone calls trying to collect and floor manager (my buddy's position). If they start yelling, stay calm. That will frustrate the piss out of them. They are trying to get an emotional response from you so they can break you down. DO NOT LET THEM BREAK YOU. Stick to your guns, you have all the power. Remember they can only make about 10% on your debt if they sell it to a third party. Play the game. They will lower your payment if you play. You just have to be patient and disregard their yelling. They're simpletons. Remember, contact a lawyer if they have made ANY threats to you. The company will pay a HUGE fine for any violations. Good Luck!
I do NOT answer these calls, but after the 5th call from (877)-838-4347 'Cardmember Services', I decided to find out just who the hell they are. So I called them back, the lady did NOT give me her name but said she was with Cardmember Services (DUH!). I asked "o.k. for what Card Company?" She said: "American Express, Visa, MasterCard, we represent them all, so I just need your Account # please". (I'm surprised she said please quite frankly.) I told her: "LOOK, I am on a NATIONAL & COLORADO NO-CALL LIST - remove my phone # immediately!". She got ugly with me & said "Sir, the only way I can do that, it if you give me your Credit Card #". At this point I'm LIVID. "MA'AM - - MY PHONE # IS (720)-***-****, remove my number now! GOOD BYE!" And of course I hung up. Now I'm getting calls from these 8ss-H*les every night sometimes twice daily. I'm reporting this # PLUS 818-663-9472 'Service Call', to all of the sites PLUS the F.C.C., Attorney General & anyone else that have received complaints from these types of scandalous companies. We've got to stand together as victims, because what they are doing is NOT LEGAL. I'm going to contact my Attorney today, to see about getting a Class-Action suit against both Companies after I do some more due-diligence on my part. Feel free to E-Mail if you've experienced something like this from these 2 phone #'s (NO others though please, I can't take 'em all on.)LEO1WOLF@MSN.COM
