This does seem to be a legitimate number for a collections agency for overdue cc payments. However, the information they receive to make the calls for collection seems to be inaccurate. I have a USBank VISA and I schedule automatic payments, so I'm not late on my payments, the card is in good standing, etc. The frustrating part about their calls is that they don't ID themselves and they don't leave a message. When I called back and went through the waiting game to finally get a representative, they immediately launched into asking me who I was before even telling me who they were. When they looked into my account, everything was fine. Unfortunately for USBank, this is the 3rd time it has happened and I'm ready to take my business elsewhere.
Can't something be done about this? I am a small busines person and I get 5 to 7 calls a day from this number and everytime I answer they hang up. I don't have time for this and neither do the other people they call and disturb. I fianlly called them back and waited to talk to someone. The first question "What is your credit card number I asked him why does this company call and then hang up when I answer" His answer "I don't who you are" My anwer, "Well now I know who you are and I am calling the Federal Trade Commission to report your harrasment. To you folks who are having credit issues, you still should not be harassed in this way, being in debt is bad enough.
The telephone number belongs to US Bank's collection department. I called the bank directly and talked with someone who did acknowledge the number 877 838-4347 as their own number even though it does not show up on their own website. The caller will not tell you what it's about without first knowing some personal information from you. They are calling about your account. Also, it was explained that US Bank may have merged with your bank and that's why you don't recognize them. It is legitimate if you have a credit card. If you are concerned, then do what I did and call them directly. They will work with you to verify that it is indeed your account that they are calling about.
The office Office of Thrift Supervision is VERY effective, but the company has to be a bank, not just a credit card company. If you file a complaint the the OTS they will follow up on it. I had great success with GE Money Bank after I filed a complaint, they actually got investigated by OTS.
I just got a call from these people at work and told them to take my work number off their list. I owe money too and am working hard to get them paid, but for God's sake, quit calling! They tried calling me at home and never left a message. I hate when people do that. If you don't want to leave a message, don't call me. Leave me alone. You'll get your money. I don't have a money tree in my yard!
Before you post something here that exemplifies your ignorance and or general stupidity see the information left on Jan 10 2010 by "you do it to yourself" This should help answer some of your questions about the situation you find yourself in.
How dare you talk to us this way! We're not perfect like you and just because some of us are having a hard time doesn't mean we're stupid and can't manage money. In case you didn't know, we're still in a recession and most people are living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet. People are cutting back on things as much as they could and it's still hard. We're not all financially comfortable like you are. The reason why people don't answer their phone is because you people never leave a message, which is rude! You also pressure people into making a payment at that moment when they are trying to figure out their budgets. You're not the only bill people have to pay. Now, why don't you go back to counting your money under your mattress.
I am getting at least 15 calls per day from this number asking for someone who used to work for me. I have asked them to quit calling and no more than 30 minutes later they were calling again.
You are pathetic. Maybe a 'life' would help. I hope that your post was a joke. Otherwise, you need some therapy before your small man complex runis your life.
Funny how someone claiming to live paycheck to paycheck and speaking about cutting back non-essential expenses (and giving the impression they can't pay their bills either) seems to have the extra funds available to pay for internet services, and the extra time available to reply to multiple posts here. Maybe you should truly cut back on those expenses- have the cable tv and internet shut off. Take the extra time you'd be wasting there and do something productive to improve your situation instead of using the economy as a scapegoat.
