This is definitely Suntrust Fraud unit. Received a call today and confirmed that my account had been compromised.

Yes, it's legit. I got worried and called the 1-800-suntrust number and they confirmed the fraud dept had contacted me.

It is an automated call from the Suntrust fraud-prevention department. I get it often. Suntrust security is so tight that my debit card gets declined a lot. This is the number that calls me to confirm whether I was the one who made the charges. It is definitely not fraud and it is not phishing.

I did not notify Suntrust I was going to be traveling (because I never had to with my former bank), and after six days out of town I was all of a sudden unable to use my card. Before I had a chance to call the bank I received a call from 888-494-0586. I never answer toll free calls but quickly looked up the number and saw it was associated with Suntrust and called it back. It was definitely a legitimate number, and I appreciated them checking (even if it was a little late). I spoke with a super nice customer service agent who noted how long I would be traveling, etc., and he also had me verify some charges (by giving me the amount and asking if I knew where I had made the charges) so I will be sure and let them know when I am traveling from now on....

Well to end this BS it is FRAUD! Marie what do you do work for this company trying to extort money from hard working people? This # called my home 4 times while I was at work today I decided to call Suntrust the # that is listed on my online banking and the # on the back of my card! No fraud alerts were issued for my account! The women at Suntrust gave me both her first and last name. The 888 # that called me would only tell me his name was Keith and wanted my card # and my name, I only gave them the # they called but they couldn't look it up! Wake up people! It is FRAUD! Suntrust can look you up by any phone number you provide to them as long as it is associated with your account! Pay attention to your GUT!

This is a totally legit SunTrust Fraud department number. I just closed out my Wells Fargo account and had to pay some overdraft. Sure enough 2min after paying inside the Wells Fargo Bank with my SunTrust card I received the call from this number to verify that the transaction I just made was me and not a misuse of my card.

Real number, I called to confirm.

Just to add something to my comment: Of course scammers can Hijack someones number ID to get your information. But if you just made a transaction and they are calling you to verify exactly this transaction then it's most likely legit. If they just call and try to get your information without reason then think twice and collect information about the caller first or call your bank on the customer service number.

Legit suntrust number. Called to verify a large purchase. Once verified, all was well.
