Simon of Canadian Business Development Group called and asked if we had found a place to move yet. I asked if he was working on our behalf or how he knew our company and he said, "Yes..." then hung up.
Apparently they are a fake moving business.....its a scam they call us every day as well and they hang up when i start yelling. area code 889 is in India
Same scenario, calling repeatedly over the last several months. Called first time today, asked if we were still located at ***, I said no and hung up. Called back from same number not 5 minutes later, identified herself differently by saying she was with economic development at the DEPARTMENT of Calgary (Calgary is a city), asked again, I told her to stop SPAM calling me and hung up on her. Had to explain to my boss why I was rude to the caller :P.
Our receptionist received a call from this number yesterday and the person was extremely rude! They abruptly demanded they be forwarded to manager as they said they had been hung up on twice...they were so rude in their request, she said "excuse me?" and the person responded "what the "f" do you mean excuse me, don't you have a "f'n" manager". When she explained we have several managers, the person hung up. We looked back at the call history and the first call was 7 secs, the second 8 secs and the one that got through was 40 secs. Not a very professional company and they'll be getting an ear full the next time they call.
We've been getting this call more often recently, saying they are with the City of Calgary. When I press them for a local number to call back (we are a medical practice, our owner/Dr. does not take business calls during the day), they tell me they have no incoming call number. "Oh, so you're NOT actually with the City of Calgary?" They are persistent little buggars, I'll give them that. If anyone can find a way to effectively exterminate them, I'd be happy for the advice.
I had someone call and speak with me 4 times in one day saying they are with the Arizona Business Development Office asking the same - are you still planning on moving. On the 2nd call I said no and that someone has already called and to remove us from their list. On the last call I repeated the same thing as well as asking for a supervisor. They then continued to call and not say a word continuously for at least 20 minutes. I received over 50 calls in that amount of time. This is very irritating and disruptive to business. It would be truly bothersome if we only had one or 2 telelphone lines.
These people are crazy. They told me they were from the State of Illinois, so I told them our office is located in Arizone so why are they calling? They next day they called and said they were from the State of Arizona so I told them we were located in Michigan so why are they calling? They never stop but now they know my voice and she knows I keep messing with her so she tries to get other people on the phone. These people are a scam and but are easily tricked due to a language barrier. Just keep messing with them the way they mess up your work day and give them the run around, they get so mad!!!
a guy named Mark wanted to update his record of my employer's address. I didn't give him our new address. when I inquired about the nature of his call, he said okay and hung up.
Same call, claimed State of Michigan this time. Asked about moving, hung up when I said no.
They call once a week, claiming to be from the Illinois Department of Business, asking if we found a new office. Today I told them that there were scammers and to stop calling me and I was reporting them. The caller acted surprised as to how I knew they were scammers. Sick of these calls.
