I am constantly receiving calls from this number stating they will take me to court and pick me up.. Who are these peope

Sheryl, I just want you to know that under the FTC's Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it's illegal for them to call you more than once regarding a debt that isn't yours. They are allowed to call contacts of the debtor ONCE and ONLY ONCE unless you give them express permission to call backNext time they call you, tell them to cease and desist, and read them the following from the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:§ 804. Acquisition of location information Any debt collector communicating with any person OTHER THAN THE CONSUMER for the purpose of acquiring location infor- mation about the consumer shall— (1) identify himself, state that he is confirming or correct- ing location information concerning the consumer, and, only if expressly requested, identify his employer; (2) not state that such consumer owes any debt; (3) NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ANY SUCH PERSON MORE THAN ONCE unless requested to do so by such person or unless the debt collector reasonably believes that the earlier response of such person is erroneous or incomplete and that such person now has correct or complete location information; 15 USC 1692b They'll probably be shocked that you have some sort of knowledge of the law. Because these people are too ignorant and stupid to know the laws themselves. They'll try and tell you that what they're doing is under the auspices of the FDCPA but they skirt the provisions in this act all the time. They can say they're abiding by the law all they want, but if they call you again they're in flagrant violation of the law, so make sure you remind them ;)

I called to advise them that this was an alleged debt as I have never lived in the place with which thy are attempting to collect a debt. On one conversation a lady told me I could go live in a park because, they were going to garnish my wages. Another man told me this isn't Burger KIng and you can't have it your way. We will get our money. This is a disgust to Collectors who have common sense and don't use such harsh and demeaning tactics.

I rec’d repeated calls stating that they needed a statement regarding an incident that occurred last year. At no time did they say they were a debt collector or anything to that effect. When I returned the call I started by stating that I had several messages and the number they were using was not appropriate. The woman on the other end began yelling, “Let me tell you something I don’t care what number this is we have a legitimate reason for calling and we shall use any number we wish to” after enough screaming and ranting I hung up.I called back asked for supervisor= got Ms. Harper advised her of situation. She said no one was at ext 1217- I assured her that someone had indeed answered the phone and I wanted that person’s name. Suddenly she claimed she was the one who answered the phone and that she was not nasty.I asked for mailing address and advised that she was in violation of the fair credit collection practices... she gave me address and shouted it’s funny how you can take our clients money and not pay them back. I replied you don’t even know what happened or why...I was on disability for 5 months. She started screaming “you did not tell anyone that before” and added, “So-what I just got out of the hospital 3 weeks ago.” During the entire length of both conversations no legitimate attempt to even address the debt amount or payment of the debt was made. It was just an opportunity for them to get nasty on the phone as they wished. I cut her off and advised that she is not to call this number anymore or I’ll have her arrested.

I keep receiving phone messages on my work cell phone and home phone number for my 35 year old daughter, who does not live with me. I have REQUESTED at least 10 times that they do not call MY WORK NUMBER , which is my cell, BUT A RON STEELE does not seem to OBEY THE LAW. He wants to talk over me, when I try to speak.I THOUGHT THERE WAS A LAW AGAINST THIS?????????

SendThis....This is to inform you that I dispute the debt because [insert reason for dispute, e.g. the agency has confused you with someone else or the debt was paid. Include copies, not originals, of any correspondence that proves your point]. I am hereby requesting that you confirm the fact that I owe this debt as required by any applicable state and federal laws. Please contact the creditor to obtain verification. In addition, under the provisions of state and federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and related consumer statutes, I am hereby instructing you that you are to cease collection of the debt while efforts are made to obtain verification. Until you resolve this error with the creditor, you should neither contact me nor anyone else except the creditor about this collection. Furthermore, any reporting of this matter to a credit reporting agency is premature. Until you have investigated my dispute, you should not relay negative information to a credit reporting agency. If negative information has already been reported, you will need to notify the agency to remove said report until the investigative process is over so that my credit report remains accurate, or at the very least, my credit report should be updated to reflect my dispute.Your next contact with me should be either notice that the creditor has failed to provide verification of the debt and that the matter has been closed or that you believe that this debt is valid and are providing proof of my responsibility. If the former, please confirm that I am not being held responsible for the debt in writing and also that if the account has already been noted on my credit report, that you will contact the bureau(s) in question to have the account removed. If the latter, I expect that you will provide me with an explanation as to why you have decided not to remove this account from collections and a copy of all documents relevant to the debt such as the application, bills, records of communications and payments, and any other data that indicates my responsibility.I am instructing you not to contact any third parties such as my employer, neighbors, friends or family members. In addition, you may not contact me by phone at work or at my home about this collection activity. All future correspondence should be sent to me in writing.

Well HUH you know not everyone owes money for bills... And for your information my daughter just turned 18 and just sign up for a cell phone of her own... (Only Bill) She has had it for 1 week and haven't received a bill yet. This so call A** people that don't pay bills don't apply to anyone. They are calling and harassing my daughter and will not tell who they are looking for.. They have a wrong number...So don't just assume that everyone owes money when a debt collector calls them... Yes I have had it out with the a**hole and reported him.. You can also report them to the BBB... They will deal with it within 30 days... That is what I had to do when I got a new home number with a company that was looking for someone that wasn't at our number.. And has asked repeated for over a year for them to not call again. The calls stopped after we contacted the BBB. That was 4 years ago and yet to get a call from them... And it is a SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM..... They will be able to tell you better if it is a scam or not.... The Attorney's Office isn't the only place you can go to report people. I do hope you find the info useful..
