it is a shame that you have put this on this site as a broad brush stroke about my agency when you are talking about other companies. We record all calls and I personally sit on the collection floor all day. we are not the company that you are talking about. I agree that some collection companies do not comply with the law. I am sorry that they do not. it does make the ones that try to do everything right fall in to the " guilt by association " status. We remove telephone numbers when we are told that they a wrong. Our telephone lines stay very busy. i am sorry that you have had a problem. ARA has a billing office that we work with on a daily basis. If they did not report the payment to us then perhaps it did not get on one of their reports. They usually are very good about sending us payment information. We did not place that call. That was not our message. Just a suggestion , but I would call the number back and let them know that they have a wrong number. That way you would not get any more telephone calls.
