How can you file a claim if you owe the debt? People sure want the credit cards but then don't wanna pay their debt. Sad

Place your number on the do not call list. Also, check with your state and the laws on collection calls. Most states they can't start calling until 8 am and only once a day. Or, of course, you could make payment arrangements to pay what YOU OWE. Sad bunch of comments on this page. If you don't have money, you should not be charging in the first place. All calls are not for collection either. I have a VS card and owe nothing so I'm guessing they are promoting something. Glad I don't have to worry about whose number is calling me. Good luck to all!

FYI and this is my understanding of how the credit laws work. If the original creditor has charged off the debt its done (the company has written off the debt on their corporate taxes) - don't believe any debt collector that says it will help your credit report to pay after a charge off. If you pay after the charge off you are reaffirming that debt and it does nothing to help your credit report because it doesn't remove that charge off. Wait for the charge off to drop off your credit report (approximately 7 - 10 years it may very by state). Debt collection agencies buy pools of bad debt hoping to recover any funds from us the debtors it does nothing for us to pay on bad debt. Unfortunately, I don't know if we can actually stop the calls; we may just have to block the numbers

Seems like someone has an iron in this fire. So if you are not a DEADBEAT then you must work for these ghouls. I would imagine that when these accounts were opened the debt was intended to be paid. Life has a funny way of messing things up. As several have stated medical issues were the cause of the inability to pay back the debt owed. Since the original creditor has been able to dupe a group of idiots into purchasing that debt I feel the debt has been paid. The dumb fools who bought the debt deserve to take the loss. They had no business in the first place and these ghouls buy the debt thinking they are capable of recovering it when others have failed. In my case they get stuck with several thousand in debt and can never recover as I am on SSI/SSD and that money is untouchable. It is kind of funny when you think about it. Idiots who had no business in my business, buy my debt and never will see a dime from me. BWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA
