I'm on the DNC list also and, you guessed it, they keep calling. Doesn't matter the time of day either. I don't answer. They don't leave a message. Will they stop calling?
Called this morning and other days as well...but I answered the phone today. Woman said this was a new merger between AT&T and Bellsouth and they would be switching me to new customer of AT&T instead of Bellsouth. I said, no, and she kept saying that this was a merger. I kept saying no...she continued to press me. Finally, I said: This is NO...spelled "N" "O"...do you understand? She hung up.Caller ID: Etech Inc
No Message just dead air but still live connection. As we are on DNCL I entered a complaint on line shortly thereafterVery interesting number if you do a Google search
The call from 936-559-2200 was from AT&T/Bell South rep. They call several times with a dialer machine. I answered one time and somone with a heavy accent (India?)tried to explain the merger of AT&T /Bellsouth but I hung up after because I could not understand his English thru the accent. Now my caller ID shows the same number calling back at least once a day. Sometimes when the telemarketing people call and no one is on the other end --the dialing machine simply denotes that someone answered at that time of day. Later a live saleman will call at that time of day. It makes the telemarkers more "efficient" at their job.The Do Not Call List does not apply if you are a customer of the complany or have been so within the past 90 days. I have my land line and cell phone thru AT&T/Bellsouth so they can legally call me.
Got a call from them now, kept asking "how can I help you?" until they hung up.Sounds like some call service rep in India.
The DNCL does not apply if it is THAT company that calls you. If the company you do business sends out their call list to another company to make the calls, the right to call you does not transfer. We had some problems with that last year. If they company continues to call you after you have asked to be removed (or you are on the DNCL) you can sue them. You would not be sueing AT&T but the telemarketing company that called you.
Get a call most every day. Today I answered and her accent was so thick I couldn't understand. I kept asking what company she was with and she'd start at the beginning again: "Hello my name is so-and-so and I'm with sfkjfldjfa;f". I said "I cannot understand what company you are with! What company?" and she'd start over. She finally said, "I will call you back" and hung up. Clearly they don't understand that they cannot sell something if we cannot understand their sales pitch. SIGH.
