Incessent calls, which are not answered. CID indicates Irving, TX. Interesting comments, based on posts above, appears to be a scam to separate you from your money. Or worse yet, an extortion scheme.
I received a call from that number and the operator said that "Your neighbor gave us your name as a reference and "can you verify their address?" Since my neighbors vacated their house last year (it's up for sale), I thought maybe they were applying for credit, so I gave her the neighbor's address. The lady had a very sweet voice. Then she said, "Can you verify their phone number?" So STUPID ME did. They said, "Thank you" and then I asked, "And WHO ARE YOU?" And she said, "Your neighbor gave us your name and number as a reference. Thank you for your help." Then she hung up. The whole thing sounded vague and suspicious. That's when I took this number off of caller ID, typed it in, and just realized that it's a collection agency (I'm guessing) that used horrible, sneaky, underhanded tactics to get my neighbor's phone number out of me. How low can they get? I'm steaming because I don't know if I should call and apologize to my neighbor for what they did. How DARE THEY USE ME AS AN ACCOMPLICE????? How DARE THEY put me in a position that can potentially cause bad feelings between me and my neighbor???? Don't answer these calls - they sound very nice but they are very underhanded.
I too receive frequent calls from "CTI" and as others have noted, they don't leave any messages. Now mind, I don't have any credit cards nor ANY outstanding debts---I pay cash for ALL my purchases, including homes and vehicles!!! Who the h**l is CTI?
I called the 972-653-1000 number back and got a woman on the phone. First thing she did was ask for my account number. She claimed to be with the collections department. She claims to handle collections on behalf of visa/mastercard for companies like HomeDepot, Macys, and Shell. She said she didn't place the call to me and the 800 number given in the message wasn't listed on any list she had. When I said that I googled the phone numbers given and they came up as phishing scams and that I wanted my cell phone number removed from their lists, she said, "Ok, you have a nice day." Something is "phishy." I'm calling Citibank to report, as well as investigate a way to report this to police/government.
This is the first time this number appeared, so I decided to look it up. THANKS because I will not answer this call. I did return their call but it sounded very strange that they didn't introduce a company name or anything. They started with: your call will be recorded....?
hi everyone, I actually work for Home Depot Credit Services, run by citi... The main reason why you get the calls is because it's the # listed on the account when the application was filled out in the store or online. we call for 1 of 2 reasons: you are behind on your bill, or there is fraudulant activity. I just talked to a gentlemen who had the same problem it looks like a lot of people here are having...turns out *drumroll* he was past due by 21 days. big surprise, but he gave me a earfull about how we call continuously but never leave msgs. I let him know our management tells us not to because *another drumroll* so many people are behind on their account, we have to get through all our work. To be honest, most of the time I'm on the phone with a psp in hand or listening to music... people don't pick up, and I can understand why. But as most smart people would know, just don't give out your full information! wow, if only an entire social security number was not given to the wrong person...there's things like verifying address, LAST 4 OF YOUR SOCIAL, LAST 4 OF YOUR ACCOUNT #, and date of birth... If you do get a call that seems suspicious, simply ask for the call back #, or just ask for the last 4 of your account # (same as the credit card #) and call that line...if your account is past due or seems to have been fraudulantly used, it will automatically go to the collections dept or Fraud dept, respectively. About the "underhandedness" to our skip tracing tactics, sometimes you just have to get down and dirty because that's the only people will understand you can't just skip town and not pay your damn bill... And if you do happen to find the compassion to pick up the line, and it turns out they're looking for john due and your name is john doe, or you just flat out do not have a home depot card, just simply ask the person to remove the #....9 times out of 10, if you are nice, we will remove the #...if you want to be retarded about it, we can to (by not pressing the "wrong or disc. line" button, which removes the #)
Yup, I too got several calls from this number daily and when I finally had enough and called them back they were from Citicard. Ok fine if I was behind on a payment...sure call me, but I paid that account in full and closed it two years ago and he couldn't give me a reason why they are repeatedly calling me. Go figure.
Calls around 8:30 pm Indian (From India). Told them to stop calling. Ignored me. Repeat calling in morning. Calls from 972-653-1000 first then 972-655-1000.
is there a way to block any 900 numbers because i don't and never answer them its pointless to call them. from what i heard citi doesn't handle their own collections they have and agency in sioux falls, sd do it for them. i get calls from them pretending to be my friend and then threaten me about finances i have no clue about never answer any 900 numbers.
