They called least a incomplete message with no info on why they are calling. And said to call them back.
Stevens Business was looking for someone with the same last name as mine. They collect for companies like Verizon, National Grid, etc.
Stevens Business Systems has been calling me about a debt that doesn't exist (insurer took six months to pay the medical provider, but has done so, and I have the EOB to prove it; they've also called about a $20 co-pay I paid cash for and have a receipt for). Last three calls they have piled on abuse and threats. I ask them for an itemized bill, and the caller goes through a script, in order: 1. they can't do that. I should just pay and they'll take a credit card...2. they can't do that from this office. The bills come out of New York (or Portland, or Philadelphia). 3. OK, they will send a bill. But it's very irregular, and nobody ever asks for that. They never do send a bill. (Actually, they did send one for the $20 co-pay, which I just paid -- my time is worth more than that). I sent them a copy of the receipt, but they said that was unsat and they needed the original -- the only piece of evidence that I had that they were trying to collect a nonexistent debt. So I just paid the damned thing. In a week, they call back, always with a new operator with a grade-school education and the same script. They must have a huge boiler room, or massive turnover, or both, because I've never gotten the same operator.I think they won't send the bill because they know their business is built on double-collecting by harassment -- what the law would call extortion -- and they don't want documentation to get loose. They can call with impunity because my state (MA) does not permit me to record the call. I've asked the operators for permission, and they are briefed to refuse. They threaten my credit record (I owe nobody a dime), they threaten to call my employer (and then they ask who my employer is. Good luck with that), they call me a deadbeat and a cheat. And THEY are the ones trying to rip ME off!If you're a business you ought to think long and hard before selling debt to this particular gang of blackguards, although I doubt that one is much different from the other. (I dunno... never had any dealings with this type of agency before. Maybe this is typical?) I'm probably going to change my primary care physician over this. A great doctor's not much use if the doctor's business associates are dishonest. If you're an individual, there isn't much you can do to fight this kind of attempted extortion. The authorities don't care. The agency probably won't go to a credit agency with it, despite the threats, because THERE there is a process for documenting the nonexistence of the debt and clearing it, where Stevens Business Systems itself does not have such a process. The calls come with no Caller ID, just the number, or come as Caller ID blocked. If you don't answer the blocked call, they hangup. They do not leave messages, they appear to be terrified of recording.
Heavy breathing. I answered and nothing but heavy breathing. I have gotten two phone calls now from this number and neither time did anyone answer eventhough I heard them on the other end breathing. What's up with that!
During my marriage (now divorced) the national grid bill was in my name. after I moved out the bill was not paid by my ex-husband, even court ordered in the divorce decree to make payment. Stevens has been calling me at my home, place of work and even my parents. Even after three letters were sent to stop the calls. Today was told by Ms. Davis they can no longer wait for payment, "JUST PAY YOUR BILL AND WE WILL STOP CALLING". I have been told that everything she is telling me is a lie and can not be done. I'm attempting one more time to send a letter to stop the calls.
I receive several calls a week from this telephone number. They say they are collecting for a National Grid bill in my name for the amount of $800+. I know for a fact that I do not have any account with National Grid. I asked them to send me the bill and I will look it over, but all they say is that it was sent already. They were talking about a different address than where I have lived for the past 35 years. I do not know where they are getting this information from.
Several calls for this business comes up on my caller ID... but no message left. One time my son answered the call and there was heavy breather on the line but nothing was said....
