THE NUMBER IS NOT PICKING UP ANYMORE!!

999-999-9999 called today and was blocked by our Digitone call blocker. (We block every area code 9#########, 8##... 0##.) We didn't answer it; it was blocked. Someone we know who wants to talk to us would call back (rarely the case), so this works great. To their credit they called at 9:45 in the morning; we've been getting a few a month at 11:00 PM... often without a number to report. The Digitone blocks them also. About the only ones that are blocked and shouldn't be are people who, for some unknown reason, block their home phone number. We have been on state and federal do-not-call lists for years… and reregister regularly, so nearly any call that is blocked is a scam; 999-999-999 is obviously a scam. If a legitimate business calls again after being asked to stop they are subject to a fine of $16,000.00.

Didn't pick up, but it left a voicemail; it was an Amber Alert from San Jose, CA police. In retrospect, I may have received a similar call before. Looks like SJ police are one business that uses this to mask their number.

it is easy do not answer the call , after it quit you save the phone number as x so you know what it is for you not to return the call

I've received dozens of "999 999 9999" calls, with Unknown Name as the Caller ID.The callers (computers) can fake their ID and number. Does anyone actually use their landline anymore? Paying $50/month (or whatever) and only receiving junk calls is frustrating - and sad. Why bother having a landline?Tom M.

Turned out to be a # from a contest I had entered on facebook from Bud Light. Enetred to go to NYC for the 2013 NFL Draft.

This phone call was completely "off the wall".I did not bother to pick this call up because, I smelled a rat right away.Again, they caught me in the middle of doing something important; doing what comes naturally!I hate when that happens!

It's all fine and well that we sit here complaining about these 999.999.9999 numbers, now let's see if we can get some answers to what it really is. My husband is on the hot seat right now for the same thing. He's like "WTH I'm innocent". It's not so much the calls as it's the time these calls come in. Either on his way home or to work or when he's out of town. NEVER when it's his days off or when he's home. Is something fishy going on or......
