I think we will be getting tons of unwanted calls due to political campaigning which are exempt from the Do Not Call list. I actually picked up a call - I usually screen all calls, but someone else was sleeping - They had the gall to say they were professional solicitors/fund raisers... my reply, "I don't do any phone solicitations." And hung up. Charities are also exempt from the Do Not Call list. Go figure the two things you want most to be on that list aren't. I think other things are also exempt which to me makes being on the Do Not Call list almost pointless. Get an answering machine, or if you don't recognized the number just don't answer it. Really folks it is that simple. But thanks for all the humor... really cheating partners, stupid-stisions.
I just got 6 text messages on my cell phone (Telus) from 9999999999 .. Subject call: Hudson's Bay Company Alert, Mastercard Locked. Please call + 1 9174600132. I don't have a Hudson's Bay Credit Card
I don't answer any calls I don't recognize. The calls are getting less frequent. I also have some of them blocked. The latest is Gallup Org. They called 3 times over 4 days and stopped.
The real scoop is!!!!!! Anyone who uses a phone system almost like when use a calling card can call threw with 9999999999. It simply just the type of phone system being used. It first comes up unavailable then if you unblock it come up 9999999999. Thats how they get threw when you have a line block, in my case it was a collection agency who I P,O,they just kept calling and calling. Hope this was of help.
Listen you fools, There's ten thousand different potential ways you could be getting that number on your phone, it COULD be skype. Or it could also be bill collectors. OR it could also be that little scam they had for awhile where you would answer the call and be billed at an astronomical rate for the few minutes they can keep you on the life. It could also be the cheating husband, im not going to lie. But the simple fact of a 999-9999 number being on someone's phone does not instantly prove thier guilt. So can everyone just smarten up a little and use SOME of your brains. Stop over-reacting and think twice before you make rash accusations.
I called Verizon about this same problem.I received two phones yesterday morning, and both times the caller hung up. He called again around 1:30, identified himself as Tim, said that he was calling from a restricted number because he's married, and then asked if I would do a bachelor party......(and no I'm not a dancer or anything like that...just your usual secretary).I called Verizon, and was informed that 999-999-9999 will show up on your Verizon bill any time it is a restricted number, including if the caller dials *67 first. They told me that there is no way for them to see the number, it shows up the same on their listing. Their recommendation was to change my number.
