I got a call from 1-800-844-6591 on my answering machine. The message was a computer and told me to press 5 but since I had not answered the phone at the time it told me to call 1015158000 for a very important call. I did not call the number but it also told me for more information call 702-555-1212. Then it said that if I had questions I could go to calling10.com. I did not call it needless to say and I pray I did not get charged for the 800 #.
This number(101 515-8000) showed up on my recent phone bill on behalf of "OAN Services, Inc." for directory assistance in NV with a charge of $7.14. Noone here ever called that number and I am glad I came online to check it out. I'm going to call Verizon tomorrow and dispute the charge along with filing a complaint.
Thanks so much! I was about to dispute a similar charge on my account, but thanks to you, I now know that it is for my life insurance.
Have had several calls from these clowns on my MagicJack service telling me they were a collection agency attempting to collect a debt. Definitely a scam.
I've received a number of calls with recorded message, stating that it's a debt collector, and for me to call 888-374-4884. I called them back just to see what it was about, and a recorded message said I was being charged a fee of $4.95 for dialing the 888-374-4884 number! And then I was given a 1015158000 telephone number to call. I have no time for this! I will call AT & T to see why these people even have my phone number. I am under the National Do Not Call Registry, so it shouldn't be happening.
Received a call from "Transcom Inc." at 303-532-3426 with a recorded message (which sounded like I'd picked up in the middle of the message) saying that "this is an attempt to collect a debt," never said from whom, should not be from ANYONE that I know of. I tried calling Transcom back and got a recording that it "was not a working number," so apparently it is an 'outbound only' line for their computerized calls. Told me to call 1-866-862-1798, which connects me to another recording that plays over and over telling me to call the "101-515-8000" number and it will cost $5.49, that it is a "new national directory assistance service called 'Calling 10.'" Then they gave the 702-555-1212 number (which I did NOT call either,) said they were on the internet at www.calling10.com. I believe all the rest of you who labeled this as a SCAM--will have to watch my phone bill, although I did NOT dial their 'magic' "101-515-8000" number. Why doesn't someone DO something about this stuff??
I opened my phone bill this morning and noticed it was significantly higher than normal. Upon a closer look I discovered a charge of $39.95 MONTHLY FEE and it was for OAN SERVICES, INC> with an 800-944-9646 number to call for any questions regarding the charges. After taxes the total was $42.35. I am furious! I will contact my carrier Monday morning with a complaint and go from there. Hope they will take this off my bill!
This phone number showed up on my bill on a date that we were not home, but on vacation. I called the provider OAN Services and was advised that this is a national directory assitance number, that someone called from a advertisement. Advise them not when no one is home. They will credit my account. I think this is a scam, and they are charging hoping you don't notice it on your bill and charge 5.49 plus, local and state taxes. I also advised Verizon of this.
