I work at a travel agency as well. We just received a call from a man at this number. I sent it on to an agent but googled the number also. It was 800-726-2043 as well, and it was just fishy to me for a client to call from an 800 number. I found this info and passed along a warning to the agent who was still on the phone with the man. she knows to be careful since it could be a scam. THANKS everyone!
I called my RX pharmacy 877 number and got a recording to call 1015158000... I hung up and dialed again... Same recording. Thinking that the pharmacy refill line had changed their number, I called 1015158000 and got a recording saying they were a national call service. I hung up. Then I went online to google it. I found all kinds of people have been scammed... phone charges, checking account charges and misc. billings to their accounts. I called my phone provider to report this to them so they can document this before charges end up on my phone bill. No I will go over to my bank and tell them to watch out for this on my account. I will also report this to the FTC etc.
I got a call from a computerized voice saying it was an attempt to collect a debt. ALL OF MY BILLS ARE PAID before they are due. They left a number 1-800-821-6191 to call them back between 6am-7pm (PST). I called the next morning from the office. It referred me to this 1015158000 number. I started looking on line & guess what.....I'd like to think I'm smarter than the avg bear. Guess I need to keep a close eye on my phone bill for the next couple months.
I'm also a travel agent and got a call from a man named Troy at the 800-726-2043 (from caller ID) - I thought it might be a call from Sandals for their secret shopper (he mentioned traveling to Jamaica w/ his wife)and googled the number and found this. Interesting - I called back the 800 # and got a weird message saying to call another number, which I did not do.
Hey, mine wasn't on my phone bill, it was on my BANK STATEMENT for a TOTAL of $24.95 and Yes that famous # 1015158000 was also listed on my bank statement for some kind of personal fee ????? Now, what do I do ?????? I mean they actually used my bank debit card. I guess I should change banks ?
I received a voicemail from a company to call them back at 800-747-8202. Though the company is legit and the phone number was also suppose to be legit, I reached a recording when I called. The recording said that the new nationwide number had been changed, then referred me to the 1015158000 number. After reciting that number it continued with 702-555-1212. The recording disclosed that the 1015158000 number would appear on my bill as a directory assistance number in the amount of $5.49. I instead looked the number up online. I ended up contacting the original company I needed to talk to through a different number and advised them of the problem. They are looking into it.
I called 1-800-233-3588 which is Fingerhut to ask a question and it directed me to call the 1015158000 number. I have also been receiving phone calls from 201-347-4405 and looked it up which is initiating from Bergen County in Teaneck, NJ. I would have to pay a fee to find out (supposedly) exactly what company it is connected to.
I just noticed this call on my bill - 101-515-8000 - from 11/6/07 at 2:09pm. I am not home during the day, so my answering machine takes the calls. Nothing was on my machine and with no one answering the call, I still got charged. I'm sure it is a scam... and am reporting it to my local phone company (verizon) and will request a credit. If anyone receives these charges should do the same, otherwise, the scammers are winning.
I called a known working 800# for a business to order some parts. I got this message, and I cannot figure out wtf is going on. I cannot get through to the business. It was a recorded message saying I had to dial 10-15-15-8000. Eat me!
